Buffalo Danny Tours former WKBW 1430 Main Street Studios

1430 Main Street, Buffalo was more than just an address—it was a second home to Danny Neaverth during the golden era of Top 40, personality radio at WKBW Radio. Though the original studios are long gone, the memories remain vivid. Recently, Danny had the chance to walk those halls once more, reminiscing about moments that could only have happened at 1430 Main Street. Watch video at:

The 1430 Main Street Building began life as a horse stable. It is where Dr. Clinton Churchill first put WKBW’s transmitter when the station sign on in 1925. It officially opened as WKBW’s “Radio Center” on October 27, 1950 and was home to some of the greatest broadcasters in American radio history. The WKBW Radio studios moved from 1430 Main to 695 Delaware Avenue in October 1978.

Great to see what the legendary KB looked like. Would be cool to fully restore it to original and make it a museum. So much history in that building and with the jocks that worked there. They really were humming in their heyday.

I’m honestly surprised the building remained in that good a condition after all these years.

Was the old channel 7 building next door sold, too?
No. The radio barn was an old stable and is part of the property of the moving and storage company that shares the parking lot. The whole complex is being redeveloped, with the brick storage building being redeveloped into apartments, and an addition across the back replacing the old radio barn and a portion of the parking lot eventually.
