Buffalo Cumulus sells AM to Buddy Shula

I can tell you this, as much as I adored Ramblin Lou, and respect the entire family, a name does not make you “classic country”.

Much of the programming is ethnic, not country. When you have polkas. M-F drive time, I am not so sure I would define that as a “classic country” station.
Classic "old country" for the Buffalo Polish community, perhaps.

There's a part of me that wonders if that new station is WBEN. We know Audacy is looking to cuts costs. Wouldn't that get tongues waggin?
WBEN sent out a survey to it's listener email list a couple weeks ago, asking about their opinions of the station's personalities. So you may be on to something. WBEN used to carry Rush in the afternoon, so...

then its just coincidence that Buddy's engineer was looking for someone to install a satellite dish?

To take this guessing a step further -- Audacy fires its local staff at WBEN to go with Premier Syndicated shows. Shula's new station then adds the displaced WBEN folks.
These types of things have happened in other places...

There’s four AMs, one is untouchable (WGR), one has a large payroll on the local level (WBEN), one masquerades as an FM station (WWWS), and the other carries an in-house sports betting format (WWKB).

In years past I’d say they’d flip WWKB to all-syndicated conservative talk to flank the all-local WBEN, but …

I know exactly who is getting the shows, and do I have a surprise for him.I have all replacement programs under contract. I will tell you, it is not WBEN. Good luck! Some of us have class, and we know who is classless.

Is it possible to have class when you're taking shots at another? As the site owner those will not be tolerated from anyone...

Not that Buddy needs defending, but I have to say this.

Buddy's accomplishments are well-documented. He doesn't need to toot his own horn, unlike a certain self-proclaimed 'Radio Maestro'.

This isn't like Little League where everyone gets a participation trophy. He's earned his respect in this industry. You just lost what little you had with that remark.

Come back and talk about class when you acquire some.

Shula has been banned from this forum on several occasions for far worse comments and he "toots his own horn" constantly. Obviously, there is some issue between these 2 owners. I have no idea if any unethical maneuver took place over the Premier programming. The lawyers can hash that out...

By the former management which means nothing to us... If you have a problem with him deal with it personally in private and not in public. Personal attacks will not be warranted by anyone.

There is NO unethical behavior here. Premiere has a right to move their programming to a signal that better serves Buffalo, IF that is what is happening here.
WLVL serves Lockport. If WHLD is the ultimate destination, it serves Buffalo proper. Nothing nefarious.

We'll all find out June 1.
