On WTAM, at 12:30 pm today 06/03/2025, the newscaster said "This is the 11:30 report". A slip of the tongue or something else?
They would serve the audience better and maintain better credibility for themselves if they would just drop the weather forecasts if they can't keep them up-to-date.I hear that regularly on WTVN here in Columbus, especially on the weekends. The weather reports are often 24-48 hours old, clearly for the wrong day, and sound like they are read by a 10-year-old.
Latest ratings do show WTVN dropping again. So maybe it does matter.Does the average listener really notice or care? I haven’t seen today’s release, but WTVN, despite the outdated forecasts or newscasts has been rising in the ratings.
On the weekend, WTAM (and probably other stations) will air the same pre-recorded weather report all day. Why can't they just have whomever is on-air at the time give the most current weather report? They would serve the audience better and maintain better credibility for themselves if they would just drop the weather forecasts if they can't keep them up-to-date.

WKYC has a news sharing agreement with iHeartMedia and that includes WKYC's mets doing the weather reports. On the weekend, WTAM (and probably other stations) will air the same pre-recorded weather report all day. Yes, I know the weather reports are done by a member of the WKYC weather team, but they should provide updates throughout the day rather than just the one report recorded either early in the morning or the previous night.WKYC has a news sharing agreement with iHeartMedia and that includes WKYC's mets doing the weather reports.
Breaking News! Lindbergh crosses the Atlantic!
I'm sure it has to be contractual that WKYC talent have to read the weather for iHeart. There's usually a live hit by their morning met during WTAM's Bill Wills show at :10 past IIRC.Yes, I know the weather reports are done by a member of the WKYC weather team, but they should provide updates throughout the day rather than just the one report recorded either early in the morning or the previous night.
wrong homonym of "bizarre"The bazaar part of this story is there are economical (possibly barter) services that will up date your weather automatically.
