The CW 2025-26 season thread

I thought Dick Wolf shows can't complete with each other as that would go up against his One Chi shows at 8PM on NBC, I thought it'd be Mon truth be told.

Nexstar releases a claim on when CW becomes "Profitable" if that's the case then we shall see. One we have to deal with the proposed Tegna deal and also if that deal is approved then some parts of the country will have to deal with affiliation changes such as some parts of the country will have to kick out one of the Big 4 Networks because Nexstar owns the CW and want that network on its owned stations.

I am surprised we are in September and there is no schedule for the CW yet, just Law and Order Toronto Criminal Intent on Wednesdays at 8/7 ct. Plus, Tuesdays WWE NXT, nothing for Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Saturdays are sports and Sundays are movies.

It seems like the CW doesn't even care if they are considered a legitimate network anymore. TV Guide didn't even include them in their Fall Preview grid, probably because they had empty spots on their schedule.

According to the Futon Critic (which normally has very reliable schedule grid information) http://www.thefutoncritic.com/guide/fall-2025-grid/
Mondays is repeat of Penn and Teller Fool us and Masters of Illusion
Thursdays is two episodes of Police 24/7
Fridays is a repeat of Penn and Teller followed by an hour of Totally Funny Animals

They have been running repeats on Mondays, Thursday and Fridays for all summer. They are promoting Law and Order Toronto Criminal Intent a lot though. I wonder what they will pair it with.

The CW is owned by a conglomerate whose sole main reason for existing is buying up as many stations as they possibly can. Most of them are affiliates of the Big Four.

The CW apparently still has the rights to season two of Sight Unseen as it is unavailable anywhere else in the U.S. Might eventually be slotted in somewhere; the second season already aired on CTV in Canada.

Season three of Wild Cards will likely show up in early 2026.

The CW re-aired the first season of Good Cop, Bad Cop over the summer which is a good indication that the show will get a season two first half of 2026.

True and given that theres talks to merge Tegna with Nexstar that means that the Big Four will lose their affiliations in some places to make way for the CW on Nexstar owned stations if approved.

No that's not it. Nexstar is trying to have it both ways by owning as many Big Four affiliates as they can and as many CW affiliates as they can at the same time. They aren't going to openly junk Big Four affiliations for the CW.
