TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

More on “Doctor Odyssey’s” axing (and more questions)!
I wonder what those of us here who actually watch an episode or two think about that show. I found it astoundingly simplistic in plot and rather juvenile in depth. Never watched after the second show... and I am still a big viewer of series dramas as I play them while working on my website.

Another that I discarded, mostly because of just terrible writing and amateur filmography, was "Rescue: HiSurf". I generally enjoy the variety of Hawaiian set shows, but that one just "smelled" like a cheap production. I wonder if the declining network viewing will give us more bad writing / acting / videography?

It may just be dilution of talent, as there are a huge number of shows spread across a wide variety of platforms.

Tracker pulls large numbers for CBS. I’ve been watching the show as my wife likes it, but too often I groan at some of the trite writing and dialogue.

Very good point. And I think the exploding costs of production have influenced this as well. We see the flight to Toronto, Atlanta and other locations as evidence.

I like Tracker, but find some episodes far better than others. I discovered that the ones I don't like have different writing teams. In general, a lot of the dialog is not in conformity with how real people speak. I appreciate that some show writing is done for brevity in each scene (like the lack of salutations, courtesy and "goodbyes" in phone calls) but the writing on a number of shows is dreadful.

A show that started out as moderately entertaining was "9-1-1" but after a few seasons either they ran out of stories or writers. Almost comedic at times!

I watched the first few episodes of Dr. Odyssey just because I like Don Johnson, but all the different storylines in each episode got to be too much, plus the guest stars weren’t great either. And Don Johnson wasn’t in each episode I watched very much, despite being the ship’s captain.

I found the medical situations unbelievable. They explained the ability of the medical professionals to handle them this way. The doctor wanted to work in a place that was less challenging after he had COVID, and the nurse wanted to go to medical school.

The romances between them were ridiculous.

The similarities to "The Love Boat" I generally enjoyed. Just too many medical crises. On a real ship I figure most of those people would have died from not being able to get to someplace that could take care of them.

Then there were the gimmick episodes.

I liked Don Johnson as the captain and that was my main reason for watching.

I have one recording left.

“And Just Like That”… It’s coming to an end!
Bummer. The original series, the movies, and the current one, were so well written, very funny, with top notch acting. I thought those girls would be around another 27 years, still trying to find love, and happiness well into their 80's. Lol.

But it's always best to go out on top, and who knows...TV is always looking for the next reboot. Never say never!

“Hacks” to end with season 5
Hacks has been my favorite TV series since it started airing. They are ending at the right time. I felt that it might be time while watching season 4, which was great, but just not as great as the previous three. Particularly, when they had to throw in yet another 'Deborah and Ava fight and makeup' storyline. That one has worn thin. Also, they only picked up one major Emmy win this year, compared with the 4 major wins from last year,. They were the series with the most wins last year.

Still, just brilliant to watch, a show where everything comes together perfectly...and it's very funny!
