Central Jersey 107.1 The Boss

Listening to the stream right now, they're playing "Watermelon Sugar."

They currently remind me of Ben FM in Philly during the period when they slipped in some current/recurrent Hot AC titles. Not exclusively Adult Hits, but basically that with some Hot AC flavor.

Would love to check out their playlist, but looks like it's not on their site and they're not feeding any of the third-parties (onlineradiobox.com, etc.)

There is a “Recently Played” tab in their online player when you click “Listen Live.”

Given that they refer to the morning show as the “Boss Big Show” and that their PD, Robby Bridges, worked with Scott Shannon at PLJ, it seems like they’re trying to channel that 90s/00s PLJ vibe. The imaging and music give that impression, too.

I give them credit for trying something different. JLK is no longer Hot AC, so they can include some of those newer songs and still have a unique position in the market. It seems to be working.

Just checked them out and they're currently playing "Another Night" by Real McCoy. Last time I heard that on the radio, it was on a different Boss!

What is JLKs format?

Most likely national logs, as most Townsquare stations run.
Kind of. WJLK and WPST are currently running the same logs in afternoon drive and nights when both air Matt Ryan and Townsquare's Pop Crush Nights.
They should simulcast their signals overlap.
They target completely different markets for advertising revenue. And very few listeners are aware of both.

It was actually from like '93 to Memorial Day '97, and they had a couple of killer books with the simulcast in Fall '94 and Spring '95.

Seems like Ross Brittain may be the permanent replacement for Robby as the male morning co-host, as mornings are now listed among his official timeslots. And I thought maybe it was an error, but apparently Ross Brittain is actually on the air all the way from 6 AM to 3 PM on Saturdays, at least for this week. (With Rochelle 6-10 and then solo). Definitely a great choice for the morning show, but I would hope they'd find someone else to do weekend middays, unless he really *wants* to work that much.

For what it's worth, they've taken down the Robby & Rochelle page, but not the listing for the show. And Rochelle's bio image still lists her as Robby's wife (which I guess is technically still true). Robby is a great talent and really made this station shine - I do wish him well, and hope his successor as PD will keep the retro top 40 personality approach. Musically speaking, I also think leaning into the pop/AC side of things is a wise way to move the Classic Hits format forward chronologically, rather than diving more into hip-hop and edgier rock/alternative like Philly's Big 98.1. My personal tastes lean more towards the latter categories, but it feels jarring hearing that stuff next to a lot of the more standard Classic Hits fare (especially what's left of the '70s), and takes away from the work-friendly aspect of the format. The playlist selection on The Boss also seems to have a better flow to it compared to Big.
