WBNX to be acquired by Nexstar & re-affiliate with the CW in Fall 2025 creating a duopoly with FOX affiliate WJW

So when WBNX is relaunched as CW55 on September 1, it's getting a live 11pm newscast:

Just what we need... More Fox 8 News, as if what they currently produce wasn't already enough.

Will it really be live or a repeat of the Fox 8 10 pm newscast?
It's probably most likely going to be a repeat of the 10 PM news, and likely moving from the 1 AM time slot where it's currently at on WJW. Basically their way of somewhat reaching viewers with WBNX that struggle with WJW's reception.

Well, I just tuned into WBNX 55.1 for the first time in a couple of months, and they are really pounding the CW affiliation on air. I saw 3 promos in a row stating that The CW starts on September 1. Shame that there's nothing on the network that's worth watching, and syndicated shows are not even watchable with their extreme dynamic range compression.

I'd be willing to bet that it's an entirely new broadcast. Does Fox 8 still have their little Akron mini-studio that they could utilize, and make it an Akron-centric broadcast? I'd think that would be better than reading the 10:00pm script again on a different station.

The better question is this: If it IS an hour-long newscast, will they promote it as the only local newscast that goes until midnight?

More political ad revenue for Nexstar next year!

They wouldn't be marketing a repeat of a 10pm news at 11. It'll be a live production that'll go up against WEWS, WOIO and future sister station WKYC.

The screenshot a few posts above clearly says it's going to be "Fox 8 News at 11 on CW55."
I'm talking about something like a "Fox 8 News on CW55" branding with a combination of the two logos on air. Or is it just going to be advertised as such with the the typical Fox 8 News branding on 55, much like 19 News over on WUAB.

WBNX's new lineup is starting to trickle in on TV Passport, and a few interesting things:
  • New Day Cleveland is going to be rerun on WBNX in the 3pm hour. Only one hour, though. This was an obvious move I was hoping they'd do.
  • Judge Judy reruns on WBNX at 1pm
  • WBNX gets Big Bang Theory at 7:30 and WJW gets Family Feud at 7:30. BBT still apparently airs on WJW at 11.
  • The 11pm news on WBNX is only 30 minutes. Friends will air at 11:35.
The 3 pm airing of NDC may only be filler until new stuff trickles in later in September.

First couple of weeks in September are always "no man's land" for new fall schedules on local stations, when old stuff leaves, but new stuff has yet to debut.

We'll get more clarity when we see the schedule for Sept. 15.

According to TV Passport, WUAB is starting a 9pm newscast on September 1st.

There is more on the new program from WOIO's website.
So I take it that My Network TV will be back on WUAB starting at 1 AM in the morning, and that WOIO 19.2 will no longer be a dual affiliate of MeTV/My Network TV? None of the online listings have been updated yet to reflect the changes, including WBNX.
