Still a lot of news, but anything's better than Fox 8 with their pointless filler stories or News 5 with most of their content sourced from Scripps News and other Scripps stations. With the 9p news, this will now mean 19/43 will air 13 1/2 hours of live local newscasts per weekday
4:30-7a (simulcast on 19 and 43)
7-9a (43)
9-9:30a (19)

3-6:30p (19)
7-8p (43 - includes the "First Alert Focus" weather show)

MyNetworkTV is not a network. It's a modular programming block sourced from NBCUniversal and syndicated by Fox with zero branding. So it can run at whenever time on WUAB.So I take it that My Network TV will be back on WUAB starting at 1 AM in the morning, and that WOIO 19.2 will no longer be a dual affiliate of MeTV/My Network TV? None of the online listings have been updated yet to reflect the changes, including WBNX.
Quanity over quality. It'll get even worse after Nexstar takes over WKYC next March and makes it a simulcast rump of Fox 8.How much will that be compared to news on 8/55?
Now there will be news (once again) at 9pm on 43 and now news at 11pm on 55. That's going to be FOUR newscasts at 11 in Cleveland. I have a feeling 55 might end up #1 in that slot over 3, 5 and 19.
Geesh... Sorry.MyNetworkTV is not a network.
MeTV will likely be heading over to WOCV-CD (probably 35.1 for Spectrum cable coverage) this November, as that's when their current contract with WOIO ends. While WOCV-CD is required to pre-empt programming with a public affairs show on 35.1 every Sunday morning, it will only be a small fraction compared to MyAnd yes, that means 19.2 can carry MeTV on a 24/7 basis again. But with how meager WUAB's lineup is, they should be running MeTV on the primary channel instead.
It started as a network (remember when it debuted it aired nightly episodes of Americanized telenovelas), and even became the home of WWE Smackdown for a spell.Geesh... Sorry.
It was at one time though, up until 2011? They may want to do something with that misleading name.

Not counting New Day Cleveland or newscast repeats:How much will that be compared to news on 8/55?
So far I haven't seen any renewal notice of WOIO's contract with MeTV. Last time it was renewed was days before Weigel completed the sale and took control of W27EA-D (WOCV-CD) in June 2022, but they probably allowed MeTV on WOIO to continue as that would give WOCV-CD some time to increase viewer awareness with its other networks, mainly with the help of rebranding of Decades to Catchy Comedy. Not to mention some downtime a couple of months after the purchase to perform transmitter upgrades, which at that time would have occurred at the end of WOIO's contract. It's not clear what will happen with the MeTV affiliation, and when I mention this, I always say "may move" or "likely move", and not "will move". Since Dabl already departed from WOIO and over to WOCV-CD, the MeTV move is more likely going to happen, though I don't know which side declined to renew its Dabl contract. Having MeTV on WOCV-CD will also mean that over-the-air viewers will have access to MeTV+, which can only happen if MeTV isn't affiliated with a 3rd party broadcaster in the same market.Wouldn't put ALL my eggs in that basket.
Wouldn't shock me if MeTV stayed on 19.2, as all the relevant parties involved have a good thing going and may not want to rock the boat.
Essentially 3 and 5 have half the newscasts per weekday that 8/55 and 19/43 have
Wasn't trying to argue with you, just saying that MeTV leaving 19.2 is hardly a lock,So far I haven't seen any renewal notice of WOIO's contract with MeTV. Furthermore, H&I's contract with WBNX is up in December, and Start TV will follow November 2026. Both networks will most likely move over to WOCV-CD as well, as Nexstar doesn't deal with the Weigel networks. Any Nexstar station affiliated with a Weigel network is most likely bleeding off its current contract from the previous ownership, though there are a few cases where they have made special deals, mainly due to the lack of stations in a particular market.
L.A. is a completely different animal than Cleveland. It is very common for stations not affiliated with the "big three" to have a lot of news programming. It allows for more commercial avails than syndicated programming.
Examples from L.A.:
KTLA/5 (CW) - News from 4:00am to 2:00pm, then "Off The Clock" (which is sort of newsy) and 3:00pm to 8:00pm. After the CW programming block, news from 10:00pm to 11:35pm.
KCAL/9 (Independent, but owned by CBS) - News from 5:00am to 11:00am, noon to 1:00pm, 4:00pm to 5:00pm, 8:00pm to 11:00pm. Most of the daytime non-news hours are "courtroom" shows, the 6:00am hour is simulcast on KCBS/2 and they defer to their "parent" doing news at 11:00am, 4:00pm, and 11:00pm. (In fact, the news on the network station is branded as "KCAL News on CBS Los Angeles".)
KTTV/11 (Fox): 4:00am to noon, 5:00pm to 7:00pm (to 8:00pm if you include "Extra" and "TMZ"), 10:00pm to 11:30pm, with a repeat of the 10:00pm hour at 1:00am.
KCOP/13 (MyNet, owned by Fox) - Simulcasts the 11:00am hour from KTTV then does an additional hour at noon. Simulcasts the 5:00pm hour. Then 8:00pm to 10:00pm and a simulcast of the 11:00pm show plus an additional half hour of news.

We'll just have to wait until November to see what happens, or keep an eye on their contracts page on the FCC's public files.Wasn't trying to argue with you, just saying that MeTV leaving 19.2 is hardly a lock,
.MeTV does very well on 19.2 and as I said before, this may be a case where if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
That's possible as well, or they didn't want it competing with The365 or whatever it's called now. All I know is that Dabl has slowly been popping up on Weigel's other O&O stations ever since they took over network operations back in 2023, so that kind of tells me that they are waiting for the existing contracts to end in markets where they own a station.Regarding Dabl on 19.3...gun to my head, I'd say Reserve Square passed on renewal, as they wanted a spot open for the Gray owned Defy network.
Especially when Weigel is getting cable carriage for MeTV via the WOIO subchannel. WOCV doesn't have must-carry rights because it is low-power; 35.1 is on Spectrum (through arrangements that date back to when the late WOAH 29 was on Time Warner Cable in Akron) but I don't know if it's on any other cable provider.Wasn't trying to argue with you, just saying that MeTV leaving 19.2 is hardly a lock,

Aside from Spectrum, I'm not really sure how much the other cable providers in NE Ohio have in terms of reach or subscribers. 19.2 may only be drawing in a tiny percentage on those providers combined.Especially when Weigel is getting cable carriage for MeTV via the WOIO subchannel. The 3 pm airing of NDC may only be filler until new stuff trickles in later in September.
First couple of weeks in September are always "no man's land" for new fall schedules on local stations, when old stuff leaves, but new stuff has yet to debut.
We'll get more clarity when we see the schedule for Sept. 15.
