Nextstar caved, but Abc didn't have to. Just reduce the show length to reduce the cost temporarily.

It's hurting their bottom line, so that's just a solution...could even be a half hour...less guests, less money thrown away. Outside of less viewers, what's the cost for ABC?

I doubt it's that many. The new season is just starting. Unless it's a show that dumps all its episodes at once, Netflix-style, production is usually roughly four to six weeks behind air date.

They start filming in July.

If you're talking about the Kimmel suspension hurting their bottom line, that's probably true with all the loss of subscriptions to Disney+/ Hulu/ESPN+/etc., but the rest of it is never going to happen.

Responding to a question about whether free speech is better protected in the U.S. or UK, Trump claimed Kimmel was “fired because of bad ratings more than anything else,” along with “saying a horrible thing about a gentlemen called Charlie Kirk,”

The president seems to believe this is permanent. I think he's right. I don't see this getting fixed.

But what I'm getting at is how? Not sure they have any jurisdiction to take a station off the air because of one comment by one comedian on the network.
