WIHG appears to be an FM frequency. Now there's WKPT in Kingsport, TN...and the fact that WKPT only puts out 37 watts at night on 1590, I doubt it's them. Once upon a time, years ago, I picked up WKPT. WAKR had a moment of dead air just before the top of the hour news break and I could hear WKPT do their station ID.
I thought it might remain a mystery but I now think it might be WFBR out of Baltimore, MD. They broadcast round the clock with 1,000 watts. Seems like every other station on 1590 drastically cuts their nighttime power. I finally remembered that a couple of years ago when WAKR was off the air for whatever reason I picked up WFBR during the nightime hours. And the fact that I am barely hearing a station underneath WAKR even during daytime hours seems like they might be they only one fitting the bill....UNLESS it's another station popping up under WAKRs signal during the daytime.
Either way, until I hear an ID it will remain an enigma for now.
Oh, as an aside, FM skip must have been pretty decent this evening as WAKR's FM signal was being totally overidden every now and then by WRQN out of Bowling Green, OH.
