Kimmel returns Tuesday

It certainly puts the lie to the idea that Disney wanted to get rid of Kimmel because the show was losing money.

No doubt it's less profitable than it used to be, because that's true of all linear TV, but if Disney were really using the Kirkfuffle as an excuse for cost-cutting, they wouldn't be bringing the show back so quickly.

And now ABC's other talk show The View addresses the Jimmy Kimmel situation since their show was next on the list of Chairman Carrs "Investigations".

They were losing more money in cancelled Disney + and Hulu subscriptions.

Disney has taken so much crap from the right over the years for its supposedly "woke" entertainment, even before the word was in vogue---black Little Mermaid all the way back to Pocahontas in the 90s.

I'm glad they could do the calculus, see there was no pleasing them, and that a majority of sane Americans are the ones who spend a boatload of money on Disney, from merch to parks to cruises to video and film entertainment.

As I said early on, he'd be back after a few best of or repeats. The actions on all sides achieved the result they were seeking and now all is well.

Well, that's not what ABC did. They ran Celebrity Family Feud in his place.

The actions on all sides achieved the result they were seeking and now all is well.

Did they? Disney ABC lost untold subscribers, prompting Kimmel's return, Nexstar and Sinclair have basically been told where to put it by their own network, and FCC Chairman Brendan Carr flexed his muscles and got ignored.

Still to come---the Trump administration on ESPN/NFL Nexstar/Tegna and God knows what else.

The only people who achieved the result they were seeking were the sane majority of American people, who showed Disney how seriously we take the First Amendment and how easily we can live without their merch, parks, cruises and programming.
