Casey Kasem AT 40 shoutouts

I never worked at a station that carried AT40 but I like to listen to Casey on SiriusXM and listen for the shoutouts. Sometimes I will look up the stations mentioned to see what format they are running today.

We used one of the rejoin liners he voiced for our station in a few of our multi-voice sweeps for a while back in the day.

When I was at KIYU in Galena, AK one of my jobs was to download and edit the shows.... we had dick cut a bunch of liners for us and one thing I'd do when hed call for a time out going into a break (which we filled with a psa, station promo and a song) is add a station tag to the segment closer "And we'll be right back after this time out ON KIYU" .. the on KIYU part was voiced just for us as part of a much longer liner "dont miss out on rock pop n soul...........XXXX on KIYU". id get a clean cut of that, tackk it on...... I'd also do that with return liners and if i had to fill with a second song, I'd use it as a between song liners.. Dick spoke in such a way that you could never really tell to the avg human ear that the into break or rejoin liners were two pieces after i customized them

How many stations used Casey's shoutouts as legal ID's? I know WMC-FM 100 in Memphis used it for years.

Back in the 1970s, I worked for KACY/1520 in Port Hueneme (Oxnard-Ventura market) CA. We ran AT40 on Sunday morning and called the regular format "KC-152".

Custom TOH during AT40 was "This is Casey ... on 'KC' ... KACY, Port Hueneme."

...and, I was a snot-nosed punk listening to that each week while I lived there. Fun times.

Weird hearing Casey do an ID for the Hartford station running classic AT40. WTIC-FM 96.5 ran his Casey's Top 40 show from 1989 onward. They never carried AT 40 here.
