Post your latest DX

Something weird on Wednesday...I was listening to Edinburgh, IN SDR, trying for sunset DX and I caught a loud southern/traditional Gospel station over WAKY on 620, between 4:15 and around 4:50pm ET, playing songs like "Almost Persuaded" and "Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown". A DJ did quick Bible trivia, but couldn't catch an ID or local reference. It was not my local WRJZ in Knoxville. Nothing on 620 seems to fit. Any ideas?

It could’ve been KTNO in Plano, TX, near DFW. At the beginning of this month they switched from Spanish-language Christian (Radio Luz) to simulcasting English-language Christian talk/music from 100.7 KWRD (The Word) in the DFW area.

Today I'm getting WKHB, Irwin (Pittsburgh) PA over WAKY with a polka show; if they had a Gospel show during that hour, that would be my answer.

11/23 4:30 AM 720 KC WGN Wolfman Jack playing The Supremes. How many stations are playing his old shows?

760 KC an oldies station with a great format and good copy. The announcer is speaking Spanish. I believe it's Mexico, and he even mentions Mexico. If anyone has an idea of who that could be, please let me know. At times they were stronger than WJR, which also comes in usually very well here.

Speaking of oldies stations on AM, I was listening on 930 on the Cape May County, New Jersey SDR yesterday afternoon their local time and there was a station playing good oldies that you never hear at all on the cookie cutter oldies FM stations all over the country that play the same 20 songs all day and night.

It was WNCL from Milford, Delaware at only 500 watts, a simulcast of an FM station.

I've often heard oldies stations when scanning the AM SDRs in the northeast but they are all low power stations.

When you think of many things 'old that are new again' like the retro interest in vinyl records, wouldn't it be great if oldies made a big comeback on AM in major markets on high power stations.

It will never happen, though.

The reason I listen so much to SDRs for my DXing anymore is because here on the Big Island, there are only 3 local stations on AM with all other frequencies completely empty during the day.

But it's the exact opposite at night and this may be the best location in the US for nighttime AM DXing but I think I've heard all I can possibly catch on AM at night in the 10 years I've been here, so I'm glad there are SDRs online in distant locations to still listen to.

We have a good selection of FM stations here at least but FM DXing is very limited due to the terrain of the island which pretty much blocks any tropo from Oahu where I'm located.

107.1 KBHi “Rock 107” at 3,700 Watts from Southeast Missouri, around 376 miles away.

Also 100.5 KTGR at 6,000 Watts from Fulton, Missouri, around 150 miles away.
KTGR! that brings back some memories
heard their 1580 AM outlet years ago several times (from the Chicago area) before the freq. got all cluttered up with those “night light” powered stations!

KODL 1440 The Dalles, OR Heard at 0211UTC Nov 24 (511pm AK Time Nov 23) with a classic country song, liner "your classic country FM, 99.1 and 100.7" with a mention of KODL 1440 and then into another song. 1800 miles, 370 watts.

770 tentative CHQR Calgary mixed with KTTH
1140 CHRB High River AB (428 miles) all alone with soft religious music
1160 KSL Salt Lake City weak but audible

Meanwhile, the W0AY Stevensville MT SDR has KMIA-1210 and KKXA-1520 on daytime skywave from western WA, also KVRI-1600, KRPI-1550 and KRKO-1380.

I wonder why KHAT 1210 Laramie, WY Hasn't been logged by anyone lately. Apparently it's been operating for a few months with 100 watts day and night from the roof of the studio in downtown.

Mine was also my lowest frequency daytime skywave catch - 730 XEX in Mexico City at 702 miles. Heard on my car radio at 10:56 CT on January 27, 2019, with W Radio IDs, sports promos, and Mexico government PSAs.
