Christmas?

Hot AC tends to skew younger than mainstream AC. And the Hot AC mom likely has younger children. You'd think that Christmas would be a no brainer but the tactic seems to perform better with mainstream AC and their target a 40 year old woman. Of course Christmas stations tend to also an audience of well over 55 as well.
Makes sense; I was wondering if we have any empirical evidence beyond the n=1 of B98.5 of hotter ACs having issues with all-Christmas.

If anything, 94.1 will likely segue in to a more mainstream AC format after Christmas. Christmas music will help get some more of those listeners in, and they could tweak the station to retain that audience that may have been turned off by the overly rhythmic or hip hop material sometimes played prior to going all-Christmas. They’re not changing formats.

Agreed. That would make the most sense. More so than a "Jack" type approach. And probably the "Relax and Refresh" verbiage the other Audacy ACs like Magic in Boston and B in Philly uses. If I were B 98.5, I'd try to get the word "refresh" into their verbiage now.

A format flip of any kind, especially to a “Jack” type format, would fly in the face of the very prominent morning show as well as the on air personalities they’ve just added. Audacy is committed to Star, just perhaps not as “feel good throwbacks.”

Is it just me but is the "base" just a little high on 94.1's audio for a "full or real" AC station? Of course a little extra bass works for a rhythmic / female leaning Hip Hop hybrid.* If they were going to radically change I believe they would have change the audio settings by now.

*It kinda reminds me of the old disco days.

I agree with you 100%.

IF there is any change at Star 94, I think they might dial back the hip-hop and urban content a tick or two and throw in a few more 90s pop/dance hits. The 1990s were chock full of dance hits, even though there was no CHR in Atlanta to play them for most of the 1990s. A lot of that music was largely ignored in this market, but those songs would resonate with transplants who come from better CHR markets, like New York and Miami.

A "Jack" or straight-up variety hits format would be a major reset just when Star's ratings are starting to show some signs of life.

If 94.1 were to flip (and it is a huge IF), I could see a classic hits/variety hits format, but given the station's recent bit of success with their current format, that is not likely, but not impossible either.
What if they lean more towards a Mainstream-Bright AC format like Mix 94.9 in Cincinnati?

Can almost guarantee there won’t be a format change beyond tinkering around the edges. The station is keeping its “Feel Good” brand — which leaves it plenty of room to maneuver and fits in nicely with its personalities. There is precedent for Rhythmic ACs going Christmas and returning to the format (WMOV in Norfolk, for example, did it for nearly a decade, and LA’s The Wave went Christmas for several years, as well).

If Star were to switch to more AC leaning, the timing would be great after Christmas to capture and keep the AC crowd that found Star for the holiday tunes before they drift away from the return of hip hop and rhythmic sounds of their regular format. Kevin & Taylor would no doubt be an influence on such a move, if it were to occur.

When Star first started this Rhythmic AC format, they played a lot of pop and dance from the 90s. Even some freestyle songs (Stevie B. Sweet Sensation) and synthpop (Erasure, Pet Shop Boys)....but Atlanta seems to hate dance music because for some reason they backed off all that and kept the hip hop.
