Sherri Shepherd Show cancelled

Hope not!

I read or saw some internet ads somewhere (possibly on TVNewsCheck) that she had her best season ever, ratings-wise, so I don't expect Drew to be cancelled anytime soon.

I don't get it. Why is she succeeding when Clarkson and Shepherd failed?

Daytime is now all about newscasts and court dramas.

I'm old enough to remember when daytime television was a mix of game shows and soap operas on the network stations, and ancient movies on the independents ... with cartoon blocks in the late afternoon on at least one of the latter in every market.

True too! I still remember the days when cartoons blocks were on at 3pm and 4pm for local TV stations when I was a kid in the 1990's in the mix. It was in the era when Fox, WB and UPN affiliates had a timeslot for that. But then again today its a different story given that some of the cartoon content is on a section of TV apps and somewhere on FAST channels in this era.

Talk shows like Sherri Shepard and Kelly Clarkson its a case of having to compete against "Influencers" and Pundits on podcasts, Twitch and Youtube in this era. Hope for the best for both of them after TV.

CBS still pretty much follows that template.

But with the audience split a million ways it wasn’t back then, there’s only so much that woks. 😉

Seem like when FOX renewed Sherri that it would have stayed for a few more years maybe the had a change of heart. Kinda surprised about Sherri ending. I can't see WOOD TV adding more news as West Michigan doesn't have a lot of news happening in my opinion. Not that it really matters as I don't watch news in the afternoons to begin with.

As far as nationally syndicated and network daytime talk shows, is this what we have left?

The View
Drew Barrymore
Live with Kelly and Mark
Tamron Hall

That's how many daytime soaps are left! Yep, daytime talk is now facing the same downward spiral.

Interesting you say that because I was remembering when ABC cancelled OLTL and AMC, stating the soap economic model wasn’t working and replaced them with the cheaper to produce talk shows The Chew and very short lived The Revolution. Similarly CBS replaced As The World Turns with the cheaper to produce (and CBS owned) The Talk, which was replaced last year with Beyond The Gates
