Tucson KTKT tower site vandalized

That explains why I haven't been able to hear their signal during daylight hours in Phoenix like I have in the past. I'm assuming the thieves wanted the copper wiring?

Not just wiring. An ATU (Antenna Tuning Unit) is basically a metal box, often copper lined, that has a combination of copper coils and capacitors that tune the transmitter output to the tower. In addition,, there is copper coaxial cable from the transmitter to the towers and a big copper strap or tube that connects the ATU to the tower.
