Stock Show on WHK

And if you monetize both (Donations of $) it seems you should make more than if you only do one.
That's one possibility. The other possibility is that you lose support from both ends because you're splintering your programming too much, and if a listener tunes in looking for classic jazz and gets smooth jazz instead, they have plenty of other full-time classic jazz streams to choose from and might not come back or continue supporting your station. There's a value to consistency.

If there is such an outcry for commercial "smooth jazz", The Wave 107.3 would have never changed format.
Not only WNWV (the Wave) in Cleveland, but KTWV -- the famous smooth jazz station in Los Angeles -- bailed on the format. If you can't sell smooth jazz in a huge market like Los Angeles, forget it. And yes, most real jazz fans consider "smooth jazz" like Kenny G just a higher form of Muzak.

That could be covered sufficiently by having a once-per-week Smooth Jazz specialty show that is promoted as such so that listeners are clued in on what to expect. Now, a Smooth Jazz specialty show on a Classic Rock station isn't going to cut it and will cause confusion. However, a Smooth Jazz specialty show on a Jazz station, and properly promoted as such, doesn't seem like a disaster.

PS: How long has it been since this thread, entitled "Stock Show on WHK", has had a post about the Stock Show? Might be good to start a new thread incorporating all of the Jazz music posts. Come to think of it, one or, maybe, two weekend brokered Specialty Shows on WHK feature Rock and Pop music from whatever country the show is about. If programmers have 'the-scratch', WHK can provide the time.

RIght, this thread, and most others, often go off topic. I wish there was a way for the original poster (me, in this case) to close a thread when that happens. Mods, is that possible?

I don't think that would be smart to let individual posters close threads......unless it's only for a post they created. But even then, you'd have someone go off on a rant about something/someone, lock the thread/close it so no one could respond. Then it would just devolve into someone else creating a thread to respond to the one that the ranter closed/locked. IT would be madness, madness, I say.
