"Newsroom culture clash" at CBS News

And yet the rest of the media fails to back her up.
Possibly because the question, as I read in a quote, was about confidential information that nobody is authorized to release during a conflict.

As I have said before, during a "war" or whatever it can or should be called, there is a very tight degree of security regarding tactics and plans. Some of today's reporters would do well in reading about the restrictions that were respectfully followed by the press during WW II.

There was nothing confidential about what she asked. She didn't ask about tactics or plans. It had already been reported by the AP and other sources.

If it was confidential, he didn't have to say anything. Just ignore the question. He and other presidents do that all the time. He could also say "That's confidential and I can't talk about it." He's also used that response many times. But that's not what happened here. He singled out the one reporter and said "Out." He later tweeted the answer, but did it on his exclusive social media platform, where he is in charge, rather than responding to a reporter question. Nothing confidential about it at all:

So that makes the maturity level of a lobotomized chimp perfectly good.

It isn’t 80 years ago. This world is not that one and some boomers would do well to grasp the world moves forward.

I cannot see how the passage of time makes any difference in the confidentiality of strategic information during a military action or war.

Here is more as the WB-Paramount deal is at play. The other part here is the scenario that the current leaders of Paramount will run CNN in the same way CBS News is today.
Just like CBS, it is hard to imagine that CNN can be any worse than it is now. It obviously needs some form of refocusing and rebranding. While we don’t get to see the division specific P&L statements for CNN, it is not hard to make the assumption that they are losing money. The choices for the new owners are to either close it or rebuild it as what it is doing now is not financially successful.

Once again, NOBODY is asking the president about confidential strategic information. Nobody. The press in the white house are hand picked by him.

They ask him about the curtains in the ballroom. That's not confidential.

The real problem is the president keeps falling asleep during meetings. He doesn't know about any strategic information. He's asleep.

You're letting your personal political bias get in the way of your brain again.

Annual revenue is $2 billion. Nobody with a brain shuts down a $2 billion company.

Ellison has said publicly he will be hands off.

The most recent idiotic question came, IIRC, from ABC, and was about when "he would drop an atomic bomb in Iran". ABC was not hand picked by Trump.
They ask him about the curtains in the ballroom. That's not confidential.
And it is any president's option to not answer a question or to tell a reporter if it is stupid.

Keyword "appears".

When I am bored, I start daydreaming. If the President finds some things repetitive, he can definitely tune out. And Trump also "appears" to work 12 to 15 hours a day. Heck, two days ago I did an 18 hour non-stop project revising content on WorldRadioHistory and, at one moment about 15 hours in, while a data set was being indexed, I sort of dozed off. When the app rang "finished" I continued for another 3 hours after doing two shots of Alto Grande.

The revenue could be $2 trillion. If there is no profit, or minimal profit, it is time for a change. The press, in general, whether blue or red, has a very hard time distinguishing between "income" and "profit" and often confuse gross income before expenses as "profits" to demonstrate how much money they have.

And the public knows even less. The whole idea we now have up for election in California of "taxing" 5% of the worth of billionaires shows that the average person... and average state legislator... does not understand that no high net worth person has 5% of their money sitting in cash; it is all part of the market value of each person's business or investments.

The lack of understanding of economics is what brings us to such stupid ideas... and that is just as much the fault of the media as it is of the school system.
Ellison has said publicly he will be hands off.

Yes, he will be "hands off" once he picks executives that mirror his wishes. That is called "delegation".

Idiotic doesn't qualify as asking a strategic question. It's a valid question, if he's threatening complete destruction. How do you achieve complete destruction?

And it is any president's option to not answer a question or to tell a reporter if it is stupid.

He calls reporters stupid all the time. But that doesn't mean the reporter is asking about confidential strategic information.

That's what you claimed. So far you have no actual facts.

Keyword "appears".

When Biden did it, it was a national emergency. When this guy does it, he's just bored. OK. Thanks for that.

I was very clear what the $2 billion was.

Yes, he will be "hands off" once he picks executives that mirror his wishes. That is called "delegation".

If CNN is in the trouble you think it is, why does it matter who runs it or what they do to it?

The statistical analysis of social media linked in this post suggests that, if the goal of the changes at CBS News was to appeal more to right-wing audiences, it isn't working.

Money quote:

Open Measures found that users on platforms harboring large pro-Trump communities have shown decreased interest in CBS News since Ellison acquired its parent company, Paramount, and installed Weiss as the editor-in-chief of its newsroom. Ellison said he hired Weiss to “modernize content and the way it connects” at CBS News, but our findings suggest those efforts have so far been unsuccessful. Rather, our analysis suggests that hiring Weiss has damaged the network’s brand – even among pro-Trump audiences that critics suspect the takeover hoped to appease.

Have at it, boys.

While were posting the latest hit pieces regarding CBS News. Vanity Fair interviewed (with anonymity) current and former colleagues of Tony Dokoupil, exactly what they what they think about him, no holds barred...
It reminds me of what was said of a certain St. Louis TV newsroom in the 1970s: "don't turn around too fast; you might get stabbed in the chest".

I've seen nasty newsroom politics before, but CBS takes it to a new level.

I think people need to watch the finished product. It seems to be close to NewsNation from what I can see. But once they get WBD, Ellison might do a second pivot maybe.

I'm noticing that changes are also in the optics...

The CBS News 24/7 FAST channel now has a red and blue colored chyron banner...just like FOX.

Is the evening network news also using this?

By destroying the power grid, bridges and refineries. To a businessperson, that is total destruction.
He calls reporters stupid all the time. But that doesn't mean the reporter is asking about confidential strategic information.
I have heard really stupid questions by reporters for decades. It's an indictment of the educational system in place today, no matter which party we are considering.
When Biden did it, it was a national emergency. When this guy does it, he's just bored. OK. Thanks for that.
I don't want to get into pure politics by comparing Biden's style with the press with Trump's. Let's just say that they were very different..
I was very clear what the $2 billion was.
But that figure does not tell us whether either division actually showed a profit.
If CNN is in the trouble you think it is, why does it matter who runs it or what they do to it?
There is probably no no way that CNN today can be profitable if it is broken out separately along with a share of corporate overhead.
