Yikes…97.1 😱

The entirety of this book included the Newsradio KNX AM-FM simulcast. The book ended on April 29th.

The separate listing of KNX-FM probably includes only one day, April 29th, after Audacy announced their new sports format and presumably notified Nielsen to cease total line reporting.

Refresh the link. The latest book covered to May 27, which is 9 days of sports format.

That's why KNX has two lines: One for news and the other for The Fan.

Is this group really judging the success of a radio station on a sample of NINE days?
Apparently so.

we’ll never have to ask ever again, “Hey what’s the lowest share in the history of the 97.1 signal?”

For a group of radio fans who have been here forever, you would think that they might understand how long to takes to establish a brand.

No you guys are right, it’s not right to judge the station nine days after the launch. I’ve launched a sports station before, on AM. The ratings never got that low and definitely weren’t that low in the first monthly let alone first few days. At the end of the day, yes, these numbers don’t even matter. But, we’ve still got a right to clown a massive drop-off, especially when KNX-AM is at a 3.5.

again, yes. These numbers mean nothing. But as someone who has experience in the format and know how sports radio listeners are on and off radio, it tells me that the core sports listeners are rejecting the format and are staying loyal to the shows they listen to already. That’s not to say thar can’t change. I really like the morning and midday show, the afternoon show is boring. It’s almost worth airing Jim Rome on delay in that time slot to go up against Petros and money. I’m not advocating for anyone to lose their jobs, just do some reshuffling

It tells me that core sports listeners don't even know the station exists. How would they know it's even there?

Has the station done ANY promotion? Other than telling news listeners about the change?
They’ve been doing billboards throughout L.A., in conjunction with the Rams in hopes of Aaron Donald returning

How would you know what your station’s numbers were in the first nine days? The point we’re making about it being too early is that the number is expected to grow over the first month and beyond.

Do you? KNX lost 0.6 month to month. They lost 0.4 from February to March while still simulcasting.

Cool. Now tell me every billboard you’ve seen while at the wheel of a car in the past nine days and which, if any of them, spurred you to a response.

Are you sure you’re in the business? Because honest to God, you seem to not understand advertising, promotion, and the level of reach and frequency required to make an impression on a mass audience.

How involved was The Fan in Audacy LA's world cup festivities? I was fairly confused when I saw KNX News was doing an all-morning remote from Hollywood Park Casino last week... Why was KNX the headlining brand and not The Fan?!

Also please let me get in on the fun and pile on in saying judging a station's success on nine days of broadcasting is laughable at best and deranged at worst.
