New York Ratings May 2026

94.7 The Block is languishing in the 2's or lower. Would Audacy opt for something better because it's clearly not working. It's the lowest commercial English FM station in the market.

Meanwhile, Z-100 and CBS-FM are up slightly - then again, so are K-LOVE and WQXR.

WHSQ still too small for a showing in the ratings as ever. For the second month in a row, it even lost to the national ESPN feed on WEPN.

The Knicks couldn't provide any semblance of a boost.

iHeart doing well with Z100 and Lite. WNEW continues to impress with solid performance.
Not much to say about the beauty numbers. Pretty much everything continues to move within normal ranges.

Could The Block be used as a "tax writeoff"??? HMMMM

I used to ask myself that question about WNEW during its Hot Talk and Blink-FM formats. I doubt any commercial station is being used as a tax writeoff, though. The purpose is to make money. Look where WNEW is today. They eventually found the right format for them. 94.7 could find the right format someday, even if it takes years to find it.

Bingo. Even if it making a zip-lock bag of money, they’re gonna keep it going.

If they had something that they could do better with, don’t you think they would’ve done that by now?

Well . . . good old 1010 WINS ON 92.3 FM sits at # 2,

Congrads 1010 WINS NEW YORK!!!

I know that this is a perfect example of how the 6+ numbers don't show the whole picture, but I'm always curious how the shares can vary this month. Sure, I can see a CHR that's low in the 6+ doing very well in 18-34/49 and 25-54. But when #1 6+ doesn't even show in the Top 5 recaps of those demos, it always give me a bit of pause. But I assume the panel sizes are proportional, there's just truly just *that* much more radio listening taking place in the older demos.

Panels are weighted in order to become proportional. They're not inherently proportional.

Older listeners use radio more, and they listen for longer periods of time. This throws off the 6+ share numbers.

At one point, iHeart CHRs were playing 90s music. Not anymore.

Audacy owns a very successful FM station in Los Angeles aiming at Latino, Black and White upper demos: 94.7 The Wave KTWV. If Audacy wants an upper demo station appealing to Latino, Black and White listeners, why doesn't it just copy The Wave? In the recent LA ratings, KTWV was #5 overall and #4 18-34. according to The Research Director.

The biggest artists of the 2000s and reaching back to the 90s, 80s and 70s, mostly of color but some white, that everyone knows and likes. Urban enough for Black listeners, rhythmic enough for Hispanic listeners, pop enough for White listeners.

You'd think the city that built Hip Hop would treat a station playing Classic Hip Hop better. But as DtotheJ says, WXBK has been the lowest rated English language commercial FM station in New York pretty much since it switched from Country. It's not going to improve.

They have the upper demos covered with WINS. KTWV doesn't really target blacks or latinos.

Here's what you said on the LA board:

KTWV may be considered an Urban AC or Rhythmic AC but those labels don't really describe it. It is also the closest station to a Soft AC in LA, even if it isn't always soft.

The main limitation for this station isn't the format, but the signal. They've been in this format for almost 5 years. They seem happy.
