Urban One to Acquire KKDA and KRNB, Divest KZMJ

When 94.5 flips is the question now. Will this transaction close first or will it close at the same time Radio One closes on Service.

The KZMJ to KFZN call sign change request has 6/30 as the effective date, so one could speculate 94.5 would flip around then.

Not to brag, but check out the last line of my December 4, 2025 post #6 on this thread:😉

When you saw the new call letters

So maybe Radio One is going to have two urbans and one urban ac come June 30.

Just saw an Instagram video for Majic and The Beat. Guess who the first person was who appeared on it? None other than Colby Colb. The VP of Programming for Radio One. Question is, was everyone in the video local?

Any updates on this transition?

The FCC granted the KZMJ sale part of the deal yesterday (6/23). The KKDA/KRNB to Urban One part is pending.
For the KZMJ sale, the purchase agreement defines the closing date of the sale as within 10 business days following the FCC grant. Presumably, Fuzion could appear shortly -- the call sign change request filing to KFZN specified 6/30 as the effective date.

So by July 1 we should know what is going to happen programming wise on KZMJ, KRNB AND KKDA-FM.

We already know what is going to be on KZMJ - Spanish Christian from EMG in Tyler. The change won’t necessarily happen by 7/1. 10 business days is more like the 8th. The separate deal between Service Broadcasting and Urban One for KKDA and KRNB hasn’t been granted yet.

I'm guessing you meant what will be happening on KBFB, KRNB and KKDA - the stations Urban One will own after this? I'm no expert in the nuances of these formats, but Urban One didn't spend $22mm on the Service Broadcasting signals to make major changes to successful stations. This is an effort to corner a piece of the market, not diversify formats. All Urban and Hip Hop revenue now flows through Urban One in DFW. I'd be surprised if they created an opening for another major competitor in the space.
