Mobile Mobile set to Vibe?

Isn't that Pensacola or is that in Mobile too?

Put Classic Hip Hop/the Vibe iHeart Brand on it. To be honest with you, I am not a fan of these HD3 and HD4 channels stations have. I think there should be only two.

Why? Whats the logical reasoning why stations should be limited to 2 hd channels? once of which is the hd version of the analog

that's a great idea, it still named as "107.3 The Beat" but how about that station shift to Classic Hip-Hop/Throwbacks

what about 107.3 HD2?

There currently isn't an HD2 channel in use on that station. For some baffling reason iHeart has decided it's worth running HD but without subchannels for WKSJ, WTKX and WRGV.

It's a Pensacola station so I guess it wouldn't show up in the Mobile ratings.

Lower audio quality, and worse reception, for starters. There's only a fixed amount of bandwidth to go around and the HD3 and HD4 extended channels are forced to be low bitrate audio with less error correction, as I understand it.

It's certainly been my experience that HD3 and HD4 channels have noticeably less range than the HD1/HD2 channels. WYCT's HD3 and HD4 carry talk, which sounds fine on the lower quality allotments, but they start dropping out while still well in the 60 dBu of the analog. The HD1/2 are pretty solid out into the 40 dBu, if not further.

I mean WYCT in Pensacola has 4 subchannels and it's a pain to scan the radio dial because you have to go through each dial to get to a whole new radio station.

All of the subchannels that iHeart deleted were ones that weren't tied to an analog repeater or AM station. For a short while when 100.3 was launched, it repeated the Smooth Jazz format that was on 99.9 then moved to 94.9 and/or 107.3.

The one on 101.5 was a bunch of random formats, mostly "playlists" and at one time, an 80's format. But for whatever reason, they pulled the plug on these turnkey formats, probably to cheap out on any more royalties they have to pay....

Yeah I figured it came down to pinching pennies until Lincoln screamed, lol.

The big surprise was that Gulf Coast Smooth Jazz channel that had been on 94.9-2 and 107.3-2. I'd always heard it was a pet project of someone at iHeart in Mobile and that's why it never went anywhere. But I guess that person was made redundant during one of their many layoffs...

Noticed companies put their HDs on the lowest powered stations in the cluster.
Less expensive to build out when one of the only reasons is to feed a translator.

If we ever get HD at our company, its going on our lowest powered station, the 110 Watt Class A.. that much weve already determined.

I wish Gulf Coast Smooth Jazz came back to both stations.
