Radio By The Bay

I was going to be, but on Sunday the 5th of July, in a freak accident involving a bulldog that got a little too excited while she was dog-sitting, my wife broke her hip. The good news is she had a great surgeon.

The operation (anterior hip replacement) was on Monday, the 6th, she came home on Wednesday the 8th, she has made considerable progress every day and yesterday, was able (with assistance) to climb our stairs up to the master suite for the first time.

Friends who have had the same surgery in their early 60s tell me she might be mobile without the need for a walker in another week, but clearly this is not the weekend for me to be 100 miles away.

Sorry to miss the event and seeing everyone, but I'm sure you guys get it.

Sending best wishes to your wife for a full and speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear about your wife's accident. My wife had the same surgery a couple years back. The recovery's not exactly a lap full of kittens, but it gets batter with each passing week, and she was climbing our stairs within a week. (Getting to take a shower is a great motivator.) We'll miss you there, but taking care of her has to be your priority. Hope she's back to normal real soon.

We're fortunate to have a half-bath with walk-in shower on the ground floor, so (thanks to the prescribed shower chair), she's been able to get her showers even before coming back upstairs.

If you're planning to get there early (like 8AM, 9AM), Alameda's right on the Bay and having a sweatshirt or light jacket might be advisable.
I don't think I'll be able to make it that early because I'm coming from the far north bay.

The earliest I can be there is maybe 12 or 1, which probably means I'll miss out on most of the fun, but it's better than nothing?

Just looked at the hour-by-hour for Alameda. 58 degrees at 8 am---60 around 10---64 at noon and the high of 68 at 3. Breezes 8-13 mph, so absolutely a sweater, sweatshirt, hoodie or light jacket.
