Sending best wishes to your wife for a full and speedy recovery.I was going to be, but on Sunday the 5th of July, in a freak accident involving a bulldog that got a little too excited while she was dog-sitting, my wife broke her hip. The good news is she had a great surgeon.
The operation (anterior hip replacement) was on Monday, the 6th, she came home on Wednesday the 8th, she has made considerable progress every day and yesterday, was able (with assistance) to climb our stairs up to the master suite for the first time.
Friends who have had the same surgery in their early 60s tell me she might be mobile without the need for a walker in another week, but clearly this is not the weekend for me to be 100 miles away.
Sorry to miss the event and seeing everyone, but I'm sure you guys get it.
Thanks, Steve! Sorry to miss the opportunity to meet you, but I'm sure we'll be at the same event (Hall of Fame luncheon, CHRS Christmas Party) eventually.Sending best wishes to your wife for a full and speedy recovery.
Sorry to hear about your wife's accident. My wife had the same surgery a couple years back. The recovery's not exactly a lap full of kittens, but it gets batter with each passing week, and she was climbing our stairs within a week. (Getting to take a shower is a great motivator.) We'll miss you there, but taking care of her has to be your priority. Hope she's back to normal real soon.
Those shower chairs are an absolute must. We're fortunate to have a half-bath with walk-in shower on the ground floor, so (thanks to the prescribed shower chair), she's been able to get her showers even before coming back upstairs.
I hope when she asked her surgeon how it went, he said, "Your hips don't lie"! Seriously though, I hope she recovers well.
Should I RSVP, or can I just go?

If you're planning to get there early (like 8AM, 9AM), Alameda's right on the Bay and having a sweatshirt or light jacket might be advisable.RSVPs help to guesstimate the head count, but the event is free and open to all.
It looks like it shouldn’t be too hot on Saturday, which is nice.
I don't think I'll be able to make it that early because I'm coming from the far north bay.If you're planning to get there early (like 8AM, 9AM), Alameda's right on the Bay and having a sweatshirt or light jacket might be advisable.
