Eastern Connecticut K-Love acquires Classic Hits Big 100.9 WKNL New London

Sales can take a lot longer than that to close. KROI in Houston was at about a year and a half, and WVOX down the road in New Rochelle is approaching a year. Although with K-LOVE, sales usually close in the typical 90-100 days time frame.

The assignment application was granted by the FCC; but the modification of the license to non-commercial is still pending. I was in that area a while ago, and would have to say that 100.9 is one of the worse-sounding radio stations on the dial.

I find it interesting nothing mentioned on the fb page or website, that i can see

Paul, I'm sure when they do change there's not going to be much fanfare about it. There's going to be something like "Last Dance" by Donna Summer played right into dead air, then Christian music. At least when WBRU went off the air, that was something to listen to!
Nothing will ever match WCCC Hartford, CT's, massive musical "FU" to EMF that preceded the switchover. I understand the on-air hijinks of the soon-to-be-unemployed staff nearly torpedoed the sale, so I wouldn't expect stations since then to go to that extreme.

August 1st, 2014 WCCC 12 Noon. Live 5 hour on-air farewell. Music. Interviews with staff and behind the scenes people past and present. Interviews included a call-in from H. Stern. Not only did WCCC air the syndicated show hosted by H. Stern, nut he was previously a WCCC Jock before he got famous and went National.

Money to burn?
No always. If it's your money and no serious debt and you can make + 12% return on investment that's two or three times what the bank will pay you. I believe Lance will tell you you can get decent stations form retiring owners for very low multiples of gross. Sales expenses should be less than 40%. Then profitablity depends on expenses. It's simple math. The Internet income, which you should be able to do cheaply, is gravy.

Unless you are are in a PPM market your sales team needs to have "success stories" with local merchants. Most merchants want to know that if they put in an order they will get results. They don't really care which media it is, they want results. If I was a local merchant, personally I would use something local if it works.
