How do you know that is the station's real twitter account?

This is all to create buzz, which is the entire point!
Given the 228 replies in this thread in less than 14 hours, the tactic appears to be succeeding so far.

Somehow I am reminded of when Star 93.7 first signed on. Wasn't exactly looping but the playlist was fairly relegated at first.

"Relegated" doesn't mean what you think it means.

OK, my bad! I should have said a set playlist instead.

Enjoy Power 96 while it lasts, because it's a stunt. The cheap imaging, looped playlist, and lack of a web presence are all pretty good indicators. Greater Media had a while to prepare for this. Plus, Boston is no Philly or New York, as far as demographics go. In 2009, WBCN stunted as "Power 104", playing the same CHR hits in a loop.

Now I thought that was an April Fool's joke.

As far as last night it's not a stunt they have a real twitter page and I messeged them they said its the real format there also going to tweak there format and imaging.

Yup. I don't think it's a stunt. I think this is a pure example of what radio has become. They had plenty of time to prepare, but had a terrible launch. Lazy and unprofessional. For a large market, it's pretty pathetic. It has nothing to do with the format. It could have launched as country or polka. The launch was just blah.

Always believe everything you read on the Internet. :D

In fact there was an artical in the globe Friday saying that 969 would launch as a hip hop station and one a few weeks ago saying urban so I don't know?

When WBMX tweaked/changed formats back in 1996, the newspapers were calling it CHR or Top 40, not Modern AC as it became then.

Anyone think there will be an hour of stunting at 11 AM once the current run of the Power "playlist" is finished?

but how long did power 104 last a day or more?

It was done by Toucher and Rich, current morning hosts on The Sports Hub. It only lasted a couple of hours

There was a post on twitter a min ago saying that greater media does not experiment new formmats and there's a list of formats it could be from classic rock to adult conterperary and ect...
