If you use the Shazam app providing you have a smart phone, it will id the song for you.

I Shazammed it yesterday afternoon, and all it came up with was "As Long As You Love Me" by As Long As You Love Me. No artist was actually listed. Probably one of those knock-off versions they sell for a quarter on iTunes.

Jacko

That sounds highly unlikely, unless the intent was to make fun of the song and/or Bieber. But why would a station running on autopilot for the foreseeable future do something like that? The mystery deepens...

...like others have said ease back a bit on Rhianna I must have heard her whole hit list today...

They can also ease off a bit on that Alicia Keys record THIS... GIRL IS ON FI-RRRRRRRRRRRRR-E...

Yeah, VERY repetitive playlist. I mean how many different R&B & Hip Hop & Dance songs were between now and 1980s?

Jimmy it's called launching a new station. That means tight playlist to start so newcomers can get a good idea what your station is like. When the 13 million songs in a row is up they will probably expand the playlist.

Plus, they're building a brand new Selector database from the ground up. All of which takes time. That being said, I think it sounds pretty good.

Okay, I can see what they are doing. Slowly adding more songs. Actually they sound very good and I don't even mind some of the repeats, but I have to fully agree with D to the J regarding "Girl on Fire" by Alica Keys. When that comes on, I turn the radio off. There's something mind numbing about it.

There are 2 versions of "Girl On Fire". The slower one and the fast one. The slower one sounds like a dying cat. The more upbeat is the jam!

The upbeat one is the one they're playing..

You should give Hot a listen Da Mac, I think you'd like it.

Yes, that would be a very good idea. They need to play more different songs. I doubt we'll ever hear '60s. I hope GM is reading this board.

On a bright note, after they play "Girl on Fire" and I turn the radio back on, I know that I won't hear it again for an hour.

i guess this isn't a stunt!! :) :) :)

Was catching up with a few people today and talking about Hot and the recent changes in the Boston market, especially since I moved away 3 years ago and just returned in December. What was once a somewhat quiet market in terms of "change", sure has been changing! BCN, ODS, FNX & MIKE gone. We have an electronic dance station? Competition finally for kiss and Jamn. I'm sure I'm missing a few.

Anyway, one interesting tidbit I came away with from my conversations was that while signing Pebbles was a major score for Hot (although she really just fell into their lap after CC just let her go) they are not done yet with surprises. Losing Pebbles has hurt Jamn's morning show, but it could be CBS who really gets hurt. While no names were mentioned, it looks like GM is working to lure some key players from CBS both locally and afar to join them and join them fast.

I guess you get instant credibility and name recognition with Pebbles which hurts Jamn. Who else would be able to do the same from CBS? It seems as if Hot is looking to do some damage fast and really come out swinging.

Let the games begin!

well her former co-host Balthazar is doing mornings on a CBS station in California. He might be the one of the ones from CBS!

I've listened. It's your typical rhythmic. I prefer Urban AC personally, though.

@bostonradio tweets:
>>Another add to Hot 96.9 roster : "Veteran Boston radio personality Melissa has joined Boston's New Hot 96.9 FM for on-air duties"
>>Greater Media "Expect to hear Melissa on Boston's New Hot 96.9 following the 13,000 songs in a row to kick off the New Year"

No suprise with the hiring of Melissa. Good for her.

Are Pebbles and Melissa co-hosting in the morning, or are they in different times?
