100.1 FM WVVE FM "100.1 The Wave"

Being one of the only few young people in the entire world who still owns AND uses his FM radio, I am slightly minimally disappointed. I have a feeling it could be oldies, but weren't they just testing the "Buffett Radio" format on WPCF-AM? I hope that doesn't move to 100.1, I may have to buy an iPod - I don't even want to accidentally tune into a format like that! (I have been scarred by that crap since we did "Buffett Breaks" on B-95.1 back in 2006-2008)
Maybe this will be an excuse for them to turn off the terrible processing they have - they tried to widen that stereo like nobody's business.
At least all the lights on the tower are working.

Wife's down there today, called and she flipped, told what she was hearing then asked what the rumor was for it to become. When I read the "by women for women" line she replied something about having a hot flash. Maybe an indicator of the initial sponsors for the new station, Gulf Power (thermostats will turn way down), estrogen supplements, and .... well that's about the extent of my present knowledge of the gender. Good luck folks.

The only thing that would make any kind of sense would be Urban AC. They already have an FM Talk. A Hot AC would eat into Island 106. Urban would eat into Island 106, but admittedly to a lesser extent. Anything male would seem like a bad idea, thanks to the presence of 97X. If the "information" that the new station is going to be called "V100" is correct, that sounds like an Urban AC brand name to me.

V100? Either that's what it is, or they have someone at the office watching this board and catered to the earlier suggestion!

I dunno, the website seems legit with graphics, logo, etc. Cromwell tried the same concept here in Nashville five years ago - Venus 102.5. It quickly morphed into V-102.5. Hot AC to attempted CHR. I am not sure exactly what the music will be on V-100, but I guess they think there is a weakness in Sunny, etc. Who else will they pull from? Time will tell.
CCENG - I asked this the other day, was the Wave not a very strong contender a few years back (seems like I saw a 7 or so 12+?) and what the heck happened to trash it?
PCB seems like it's always been a stronger formatted market to males than most. This should prove interesting, but probably not revolutionary.
