100.3 Rebranding

A refresh was probably needed, as the station had become stale, but I'm not sure that this is the answer. At a glace it appears to be an updated "Young Country." At least give it a chance.

Those complaining about the change are probably the listeners 100.3 needs to kick to the curb in favor of more attractive demographics.

Is it me, or do I smell a "stunt"? Like Alternative 96.5 type of stunt. or Like Rock Hits 92.9 type of stunt?

Like Power and Club 104 to 104 KRBE, the call letters will stay the same.

After all, call letters are irrelevant these days.

I was hoping the KILT would flip to Oldies/Classic Hits and revive the Top 40 KILT days.

KONO was Country at one time then it was Top 40 before it went oldies.

Which leads me to say that what I meant in the original post was that 100.3 would no longer be known by the KILT calls.

I don't see this as a stunt. How? They are calling themselves as the official rodeo station. The rodeo is still almost a month away. Long stunt if that's the case.

It's not. Doesn't anyone else make the connection with the "Bull" name and the fact that KILT is the flagship for the Texans which has the bull for a mascot and the "Bulls on Parade" defense?

Only thing needed to complete the transistion is Rage Against The Machine's Bulls on Parade being placed in the rotation. :D

To be so frank, These stations have retained the calls to each respective stations in Houston. Like for example: KODA-which is known for elevator music is now called SUNNY 99.1-A Bright AC Station; KLOL-Which is synonymous with Active/Classic/Album Rock-is now called Mega 101, A Spanish Pop station, and KTJM-which was known as The JaM is now La Raza a Regional Mexican Station-now owned by Spanish broadcaster Liberman-who also owns Estrella TV.

The New Bull has just posted a few part time job openings on the Texas Association of Broadcasters Job Bank website..

QUOTE from TAB Job Line:

"We're looking for charismatic female applicants, at least 20 years of age, with smiling faces and outgoing personalities...As a member of The Bull Girls Promo Crew, will represent New Country, The New Bull @ 100.3 at events, interacting with our listeners and clients..."

Yes, to KXAS-FM (either "Texas" or "Kicks ass," take your pick) back in 1984. That lasted seven months until they went back to KILT-FM in early 1985.

Jason Aldean could record a "crunk" version of it for The Bull! ;D

During those few short months, they were known as Texas 100. The fact is, Dickie Rosenfeld did not like it. It was changed at the suggestion of the consultant. Eventually, Dickie fired him and and hired Ed Shane as consultant.
For short time we were saying on the air '...610 K-I-L-T, one of the great family of KILT stations...' and the same thing was true for FM 100. I arrived at KILT in November 1984. It seems like by February we back to KILT-FM, thus calling it "Continuous Country Favorites, FM-100 K-I-L-T." Eventually that morphed into "12 in a row FM-100 K-I-L-T."
