100.3 Rebranding

It seems like by February we back to KILT-FM, thus calling it "Continuous Country Favorites, FM-100 K-I-L-T."

Right, six months to the day, February 1st. And we need more people today with Dickie's spunk, but that's a whole 'nother subject.

Yes, to KXAS-FM (either "Texas" or "Kicks ass," take your pick) back in 1984. That lasted seven months until they went back to KILT-FM in early 1985.

I think KILT-FM had to get permission from NBC to use the KXAS calls because those calls were in use pretty much for The NBC DFW afiliate. And so, the permission to use those calls were denied by NBC.

Incorrect, my man. At that time, both KILTs and KXAS-TV in Ft. Worth were owned by Lin Broadcasting. They did not have to get anybody's permission.

It does sound odd, not to have K-I-L-T mentioned on air. I'm sure we'll get used to "100.3 The Bull" in a short amount of time. What's up with the huge Facebook push on air? Every segment has a mention of FB trying to boost FB page "likes". I get the social media push to get the word out, but they sound desperate not "we're trying to get the word out".

Funny you mention that, Buzzwinkle. CBS isn't calling KILT "100.3 The Bull", instead calling it "The Bull @ 100.3". I don't recall another station doing this here before, using the moniker then @ the frequency. I was wondering if this was becoming a new trend.

CBS also does this for two other country stations. Buzn @ 102.9 in Minnepolis, and KMLE (Camel) @ 107-9.

So far I'm not liking the new format. I really like the Foley & Thunder show, but they're never on for more than 90 seconds anymore. They talk about FB and the "texts from listeners" and maybe a quick story or two and then it's back to more music. Why have a morning show if the personalities are rarely on? It's a morning show, I would like to hear more talking from the team. I can listen to the music on the other shows during the day.

The rotation is also very, very tight. I've heard the same several blocks of songs for the past few days.

However, I do like the HD2 station on 100.3, Texas county. They are calling themselves KIKK.

Perhaps my post regarding El Toro on Jan. 10 was a bit premature, when I wrote Zzzzzzzzz yawn zzzzzzzz.
After checking it out, I would like to say Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz yawn zzzzzzzzzzzzz. That place has become Loserville, sort of sad when you consider the giants who lived there. It is way too clutered and everything seems rushed, not sincere or believeable, but rushed. It's like putting 100.3 lbs. of feces in a 10 lb. bag. Can't be done and the poopee spills out all over the place.

I swear man, everytime I tune it to this station, I hear that new Gary Allan song play. Nothing wrong with it, but holy s*it, you could stick a piece of coal up that tight rotation and it would come out a diamond.
