100.3/The Buzzard & Rock92

I've noticed in the past month or so that Rock92 has new breakers/sweepers &, IMHO, has upgraded their playlist to include some Active Rock songs that 100.3/The Buzzard programs.

It was much needed.

Even though I like the Buzzard better, it's a refreshing change for 92.

I also listen to 98.7/Simon, & I'm in Charlotte.

Greensboro market is better!

It's still one of the weakest rock battles in the country. Buzzard needs decent afternoon show and they need to sound more like the End in Charlotte or 93.3 in Greenville/Spartanburg (music-wise). Rock 92 has been vulnerable to competition for YEARS. Here's hoping the Buzzard can chip away at R92 in morning drive.

BTW, do we know what the situation is in AM drive on the Buzzard? Is it Pencola & Crash for sure or what?

Hey DittoHead1,

I beg to differ & agree to disagree that the Buzzard needs to sound more like the End in Charlotte.

Charlotte needs an Active Rocker like 93.3/The Planet, or a station that plays more Active Rock cuts like the Buzzard.

Charlotte can listen to End-type Alternative Rock on WSGE.

I don't see any reason why the Buzzard can't chip away @Rock92 in AM Drive w/John Boy & Billy.

Every Mon. thru Fri., from early AM 'til at least 12Noon, WKRR/Rock92 sounds like a Talk Station, with the borefest that is the "2 Guys Named Chris" show.

93.3 The Planet isn't setting the world on fire with its ratings. It is always the lowest rated of the Entercom cluster, even on a massive signal like it has.

Yeah, I saw that.

I guess this is a dumb question since I live about 30 minutes from the station, but any idea what they do wrong? The ratings have been poor for ages. It apparently from what I read here isn't the ratings....presentation? Jocks? Or is the format just not what it one time was?

Not a listener..

::) :D ;) WOW I loves the Buzzerd and Rock 92!!! They are GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ::)
Now I can hear some 90's carp between my Bad Company and my Steve Miller Band!!!!!!!!!  BOOOO YA! That's movin' and shakin'!
I do like the new morning show on the Bustard, though. The one guy sounds like he knows what he's doing. :-\ :-X :-[ :p

When is one of these snooooozahs gonna give in and go doo whop?????????? Fa Realzzz??????? I'm ready to grab my canzzz!!!!

And Crock 92 is still running Two Gals Named Chris 12 hours a day, six days a week. Nothing more exciting than hearing two heifers yak and laugh at themselves.

After checking out R92 and looking at their playlist on yes.com, they have stepped it up a bit with heavy doses of Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, and some other staples of current rock radio. They love "Drops of Jupiter" by Train. That one comes up a lot. Also, "Soul to Squeeze" and other Chili Pepper titles are coming up a lot. This seems to bring up the oldies problem: Will the newer titles discourage the Seger/Skynyrd crowd? They have always been a heavily researched station, so I wonder if the consultant is pulling the strings here or are they girding themselves for a rel assault from 100.3.

Say what you want about Rock92, but they have always been wise when it comes to competition. I think they're steeling themselves against a Buzzard attack. I've always admired Dick Broadcasting's ability to protect the formats. The've got that down to a science!

Wow, thanks quadaponics, you've really given me a lot to think about here. You are absolutely correct. I guess there is nothing more to say about anything. We all can feel however we want to feel and can listen or choose not to listen to anything we want or don't want. Maybe we should just have check boxes with non commital comments and we can just select the one that best suits the way we would have liked to have posted, but we don't want to. I think that would handle things!

The Buzzard Morning show has been getting some legs up under it! They play more music and they are LOCAL! My pulldown box would say:
Feels somewhat favorably toward the Buzzard's new Morning show without giving specific praise. I love that idea, Quadalahara!!

This brings up an interesting question: Was "Sniff" ever relevant? I think we all know the answer to that one! A self described "board op" who claims to have never been wrong. Right.
