100.5 Clovis/Fresno

I'm hearing a K-Love translator on 100.5 today in Clovis. I thought Richard Smith / KMAK was getting a translator on Round Mtn. on that freq.

Looks to be at the Meadow Lakes site so should have decent coverage around Fresno/Clovis. My one question though is why are they rebroadcasting KLVY 91.1 (39,000 watts) at that site, does KLVY not cover Prather or Auberry sufficiently?

K-love has been famous for overlapping signals for years, also include KQKL 88.5 Selma, apparenty Non-Comm are allow to overlap big time, but for a commercial station thats not allowed.

Yeah, K-Love has done it in the valley since they started broadcasting here in the 90's. The difference here is the proximity to one of their full service stations, I'm actually surprised that they didn't put this as an Air-1 translator, since there is a larger distance between KVPW 106.3 Kingsburg and KRPW 94.5 Coarsegold coverage area over Fresno/Clovis.

I will have to check next time I drive through but KDKL 88.3 Coalinga could also cover some of the Prather/Auberry as well.

question for them that may know:
so this 20 watt translator is at Meadow Lakes; why does it seem to be substantially weaker than KFCF was when it was only 10 watts from the same xmitter site in the 70s, before upgrading to full class B? KFCF was mono in those days, 100.5 is stereo, could that be it? Or polarization?

I agree mofo it does seem weaker, but I haven't been able to discern if its actually weaker or the frequency is just crowded from KMEN Mendota and KMQA East Porterville. Does the average radio have the capability to pick out the translator over the other fringe full power signals? Also, is it actually at the Meadow Lakes location? Based on its coordinance it seems to be that location but are there any others near by that it might be on?

Likely has more to do with KMEN than KMQA.

I remember when KFCF was 10 watts back in the 70s, and it came in great , and being in mono probably one reason, like when KMPH 107.5 had problems when KMMM 107.3 Madera went on the air, they went mono to solve the adjacent interference, but later KMMM moved to 107.1, This station K-Love 100.5 is subject to lots of interference when driving, I Hear KQMA in SE Fresno Co bleeding in and West Fresno KMEN, and KMAK 100.3 might be a small reason, but I don't think that weak station is the cause.
