101.1 The Beat Phoenix Completes Signal Upgrade

101.1 still fuzzy on 202 between 52nd and 101

That's a tough area for all (now 5) of the signals from the Bradshaws. Camelback and Squaw Peak are right in the way.

Should be interesting to see what happens to the translators now. 92.7 will no doubt find a good new home but 99.3 is totally worthless to The Beat as its signal is only good in the spots where the new 101.1 signal is the strongest.

Energy 101.1 "Arizona's Dance Radio". j/k Would have been great for Energy to be around for the 101.1 signal upgrade but unfortunately not with a company like Sierra H. Hey, how about this, 90.7/92.7 & 99.3 The Goldmine!!

AMEN to that.

How about this: The owners of 101.1 resurrect the beloved Energy Arizona and put it on 101.1-HD2 and simulcast it on 92.7 and 99.3! Even if it were 24/7 automated it would be cool. A few advertisers could make it profitable? :)

I agree with Perry, it won't happen! Sierra H will not put Energy on HD2. They're ready to battle Power 98.3 with Hip Hop.

Is there even a battle to be had??

???

Well Power is Rhythmic for sure but still leans Hip Hop. KNRJ still leans Classic with a few currents. Is 101.5 CHR now or Rhythmic?

KZON is a Pop Leaning Rhythmic / a Rhythmic CHR (although the on-airs use the phrase "Top 40 Station" to describe themselves). There are different variations to the rhythmic format.

KPWR Power 106, KZON 101.5, WWVA-FM Wild 105.7/96.7, WPOW Power 96 FM - ALL Rhythmics. WQHT Hot 97 is rhythmic, too.

KZZP is a rhythmic leaning top 40. KZON is a pop leaning rhythmic, similar to KAMP 97.1 LA who competes with rhythmic leaning top 40, 102.7 KIIS AND Power 106 in LA.

Yes, KZON may play some pop/rock crossovers, but even 103.9 KPTY played Sugar Ray's "I just wanna fly" along with a hit from LeAnn Rhymes with their hits & hip hop. ... ..

Forget about Urban AC, when we have Mega and Eva already, they fill that void somewhat.

They do not fill that void. That's like saying KSLX fills the void for KUPD. Just not the same enchilada at all! lol!!

KAJM was at somepoint the Rhythmic Hot AC station pattern after KHHT in Los Angeles. Only thing is the station leans towards Oldies which is geared after latina women. AZ doesnt have a strong african population to support a Urban AC station like the ones in the midwest and south. KAJM is more focused and its fine where it is.

is there really that much of a difference these days? Nobody else thinks about that when they listen. Everybody is Top 40 for the most part. Even Hip Hop stations are playing Rihanna and Taio Cruz.

Rihanna music has always been played on Hip Hop since day one even with her first album. But I agree Top 40 is more popular more than ever.

Yes back home in my hometown Kansas City KPRS FM played Pon De Replay, SOS, Unfaithful and Break It Off with Sean Paul and those songs were heavily played on the station.
