101.5 FM Rutland Back On, Carrier Only

Any idea what the plans are for this station? I only moved up here (Hartland) at the beginning of the year so never heard WEXP, nor do I know if its signal reaches my location -- the map on radio-locator has been removed. WJJR comes in OK from Rutland, but that's a much stronger signal.

Tried picking it up in my car today. All I got was WRSY Marlboro, relaying AAA WRSI Turner's Falls, MA. Conditions must be good today, as usually WRSY doesn't make it this far north. Maybe I'll get WEXP under more typical conditions, but I have a feeling even a weak, scratchy WRSY would overpower it here.

WEXP now with continuous patriotic music and clips from local luminaries in Rutland,
promoting "WMUD Radio". However, the top 'o hour ID is very carefully and very quickly inserted
between a segue: WEXP BRANDON. LMA?

After talking to one of the Rutland 'luminaries' mentioned above; the word on the street is that
WEXP is transitioning to "Classic Country" - no other info at this time.

So who owns it now? Same community group that operated it before? Country is an odd format for a noncomm, though I know WNCK in Nantucket, MA, is giving it a go.

I love country music, but this station would be redundant here if I could hear it. WCNL Newport, NH, is also classic country and puts a strong signal into this area via its Claremont translator at 94.7. As is, I hear country at 94.7, 95.3 (WZLF), 98.7 (WINQ), 100.5 (WXXK), 101.3 (WYKR) 104.9 (WYRY, fringe signal) and 105.3 (WJEN)! Hard to imagine any other locations in New England with so many country stations on the dial.

I'm told Country is big ... I wouldn't know. Rutland already has 'Cat Country' - not sure why the area needs another...WJEN-FM
105.3 .

Classic country (generally '80s thru '00s these days, with a few titles either side) would be new for Rutland, since there's no way WCNL's translator signal pushes that far west. Contemporary country stations today generally don't play much gold at all because there are lots of very strong songs and artists in the format currently. WJEN actually has the deepest playlist of currents of all the stations I mentioned.

LRN's classic country is centered around the 80s. but plays lots of 80s...... some 2000s but very few.. we still play plenty fo 70s and dip back even older than that for oh wow tunes now and then.. we p lay a fair amount of classic country songs you dont hear other places

WEXP is back on the air with Americana format, described by GM Chip Morgan “as a locally hand-curated mix of Americana, which will include rock, folk, blues, and great old country classics.” The station is being operated by Woodchuck Radio, a subsidiary of Radio Vermont.

It appears that WEXP is operating under an Engineering STA with a temporary omni and reduced output - they still must
protect several signals in New York...see attached .pdf .

Unsurprisingly, no trace of WEXP underneath the fringe signal of WRSY here in Hartland. Once WEXP goes full power, I'll check again and do some driving south and west to see if I can hear it.
