101.5 - From Free to Fresh?

Fresh1015fm.com registered on June 1 through GoDaddy.

GOOD.... KEZ sounds stale as ever. Even their logo.... 1995 called, it wants its imaging back.

KEZ needs a run for its money, even just to kick-start this station again.

anyway.... Every 7, 8 years or so, 101.5 seems to dabble in AC territory.... it was just a matter of time

The domain name was registered through DomainsByProxy.com, meaning the person and/or corporation registering wants to remain private.

The doman name for 1015FreeFM is registered in the name of CBS Radio.

Did CBS Radio really register the Fresh1015FM domain? Or is this a ruse?

Every time a format flip is rumored, someone goes out and registers a domain and posts it on this board. Anyone remember this?

movin933.com is registered through an anonymous registrar. movin975.com is owned by Trumper (and KRZS is currently their only radio property as far as I know). The movin975.com domain was registered Monday 9/11, a few days after movin933.com started to "tease" its visitors.

I'm not saying it's not real, but more likely it's someone who had $10 to spare, and sand in his [EDIT]

I guess AC would be an improvement over hot talk. Of course, I expected CBS to make a change over the Memorial Day weekend. That would have been the perfect time to stunt/flip. Then again, we are talking about CBS. ;D

Ya know it's funny when there was no FM talk a lot of people were saying how great an FM talk station would do here in the valley, now it seems you can't wait for it to fail.

I wish it would stay, just with more local programming. Less piped in trash from LA.

I don't recall seeing many of those posts clamoring for an FM talk station, but even those that were doing so were probably expecting something completely different from Free(of all talent)-FM. Some CBS executives may not quite understand this, but Phoenix is not L.A. We don't care about what's going on in Long Beach, we don't care about the 405, we don't care about your big, beautiful mansion in the Hollywood Hills, we don't care about your trendy hot-spots, we just don't care. As was said earlier, local programming might have been nice... local programming with talent might have been nicer. Big O and Dukes are okay, I think they have grown a bit from when they started in Phoenix a year ago... but I don't consider them "local" per se.

FM talk has ALWAYS been a loser. There are a couple of exceptions to the rule perhaps, but in market after market, FM Talk (especially "hot talk") fails. A few of you may remember 100.3 KHOT--The Valley's FM Talk station... with program director Carla Fox. That station lasted a whopping 4 months; partially due to it's horrible signal, mostly due to it's lineup. Stern was great, but the board op usually screwed up the show pretty bad, then there was the "local" shows... ugh... that station still stands out as a model of what not to do in radio. (By the way, they had Tom Leykis as well, and he was quite boastful about being back in the valley, mocking the poor old Beer Baron. It was a nice slice of humble pie for Tom when he was summarily booted from the valley 4 months later... ha!)

One thing we don't need is another AC Station. We Already have a mainstream AC, A hot AC, and a Adult Hits AC. The name too. Fresh, whats Fresh about adult music?????

That is the funniest thing I have heard all day. The Ocean haha

CBS should flip back to Alternative/Active Rock as 101.5 K-ROCK "The Rock of Arizona"

5:30-10:00 AM- Big O and Dukes in the Morning
10:00 AM- 3:00 PM- William Reed Middays
3:00-7:00 PM- Tom Leykis Show
7:00-Midnight- Jenn Hoffman Evening

Or might call the station 101.5 KRIZ-FM "The Rock of Arizona"

Or might not. KRIZ has been on AM 1420 in Renton (Seattle) WA for many years. I'm not sure what the FCC's current policy for similar callsigns with an FM or TV suffix in a different market than the "core" 4-letter call. There are a few out there (KJZZ & KASA come to mind immediately), but I'm not sure if the FCC allows it anymore.

And, before you bring it up, KRUX is also taken, by New Mexico State University in Las Cruces on FM 91.5. And it's not KRUX-FM so it can't be "doubled up."

I hop it's not hip-hop. Please, no more hip-hop radio in the Valley.

But, who am I to talk? As far as I see it, all the 'major' radio genres are covered. Classic, rock, oldies, hip-hop, dance, old-school, talk, etc...

Let's just say it will flip to hip-hop. You'll just get the same talent from KISS and POWER. If it's rock you'll get the talent from KUPD, EDGE, KSLX,etc... It will just be recycled talent

I'm starting to learn that in Phoenix radio, you don't loose your job - you loose your turn.

Back to what Radio Guy 2006 posted, I love Jen Hoffman on the Starquest Challenge. I watch every Friday.
