I find it hard to believe they'd shift one successful station (97X) to another frequency without much promotion. Of course they could make that announcement on Friday and then simulcast for a bit before launching something new on 97.1. ...But I just don't see "X" moving. I'm of the opinion if you want to spend money on re-branding a frequency, don't make matters worse by having to spend twice as much re-branding two. That is unless the payoff justifies it.
After re-thinking about what I posted earlier, Cox does run a successful CHR in Jacksonville with WAPE. However, I do realize that's the heritage CHR in Jax just like FLZ is here. But as far as strategy goes, they've got an Eagle, an "X", and a classic rocker there just like they do here. So maybe the thinking is hit music is now a better fit on 101.5 leaving current Point listeners to Magic, Mix, and Play. The current Point shares audience with too many other stations. I'm kind of leaning towards believing this might just happen now. And you know... Nancy Alexander is available. LOL... ok, not something I wanna see but that should start some discussion.
