101.9 FM New speeds up the music

nd2023

Banned
I can definitely tell the music is sped up 2% on 101.9 FM New. It sounds bad for rock-based AC. Only CHR, urban, and dance sound better when sped up.

Only 2%? I heard "Every Breath you Take" and it sounded like Sting and the Chipmunks. WHY do PD's think that is a good idea?? The damn song is 30 years old, we all know what it's supposed to sound like.

Go, Randy, Go!

Next thing you know, they'll be arguing the moon landing... Wait, they do!

The only people who complain about music being pitched up are on radio message boards.

"Okay, speed-up, here's your new pal, reverb. You two play nicely, now..."

Utterly false. I know at least 3 who actively refuse to listen to 92.3 for this exact reason and I assure they couldn't be further removed from 'radio'

This practice of speeding up music should be obsolete. It sounds horrible and the big question is why?? Maybe on dance / club stations, but anywhere else, get rid of it.

"Every Breath You Take" from 1983 sped up?? Really? Nice way to lose listenership.

You guys haven't figured it out!
They don't want listeners... yet! You have already heard an outline of a timetable for the rollout of the complete takeover. But want to continue to make up your own agendas for what ever reason.

I've been sampling this station from Florida and can tell you that this is something you have to just kick back, wait, and listen - or not.

How can you listen/sampling in Florida while the station has no livestream yet?

"Okay, speed-up, here's your new pal, reverb. You two play nicely, now..."

Find a way to bring Ron Lundy back to life and Dan Ingram and Harry Harrison out of retirement, and then you'll have something.

Yeah, that got more spots in during the 70's. Now we have ways (such as the 25-7 device) to pitchlessly "speed up" music, voice etc.

Why don't they start playing the songs backwards? Or play "more music than the competition" and start 10 songs at the same time.

Not a bad idea.

WCFL in Chicago did that in the 70s. They claimed it made the station sound more exciting, but we know what the real reason was.

Bring Bob Dayton back. In the 1980's we sped up

Bring Bob Dayton back ! In L.A.in the 80's we sped up "Every Breath" by 6 percent. Hearing it now as an oldie not sped up it sounds too slow to me.

I listen to 92.3 because the music is sped up!

WWDJ 97 AM in Hackensack was one of the first stations I remember running their 45's at 46 or 47 rpm. I heard they wanted there music to have more punch that WABC who did not speed up there music.

I think speeding up the music is just something Randy is doing to give us something more to talk about on the boards. He probably reads the NY and Chicago boards every day just to see what we are saying about his two new Stations.
Aug 1st. is just around the corner. Lets see what the station sounds like on Monday. Will the Stunting end? Will the music stay or will it be gone? How about pitching up the news talk to get more stories in.

How could they pitch up a live read news/talk format?
