101.9 in NYC sounds like a Train Wreck

Okay, get the point about people watching levels. But there ARE programs and plugins to process these things before they go up on the web. That's where I fail to understand. All of my clients have nicely processed web streams, whether it's using Breakaway, Omnia AX/E or a hardware box. If something is a podcast, it gets leveled with a preset on a 4 band compressor plugin in Adobe.

That's just sloppy QC to have that problem.

"You wield it like a kid who's found his dad's gun."

"You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could, and before you even knew what you had, you patented it and packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunch box, and you sell it. Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."

Jeff Goldblum's character in the first "Jurassic Park" movie.

101.9 has a great promotion opportunity during this hurricane. There will be a ton of folks listening to their battery powered radios who normally listen to radio very little, if at all. Especially today's youth who don't know the AM band exists. If they simply do an excellent job covering the storm, they will make their way on to people's presets. 101.9 is next to some potential competition on the dial (WCBS and WWFS may simulcast the CBS AM news stations and NJ 101.5 is well established), so they need to stand out!

If they listen to radio very little, it's doubtful that they actually own a battery powered portable.

Well, now they probably do since they've been flying off the shelves today.

I agree. Unlistenable. Amatuer talent. Horrible Sound. No flow from segment to segment. 880, I will never leave you!

Although Goldblum's character delivered the line, the words and essence of the statement are better credited to Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton, who was something of a sage in matters of science and technology.

I'll bet he's also a stickler for rehearsal.
