102.7 HD2 is Still Playing Christmas Music

WODS-HD3 has stopped playing Christmas music, and they brought back soft AC 103.3 the Cove.

Fresh 102.7's HD was off the air. If it stays off permanently then January 26 was the last day of a Fresh Christmas.

WWFS 102.7 HD2 is still playing Christmas music at the time this is being written.
Perhaps the philosophy at the station is that so few people are listening to the HD2, they will change the programming when they get around to it.
Anyone know if this is the only signal on terrestrial radio in the U.S. currently playing Xmas music 24/7?

Well...HD radio should always do something you cannot get on the main signals, so all Christmas certainly qualifies. Of course, that programming move wasn't intentional.

I'm one of the few with an HD radio..that Insignia Table Top which is quite a good receiver, and it would be nice to have some compelling, different programming, but unless someone is actually listening or caring what is on the sub channels, nothing will change.

I'm sure HD has more listeners in each market than the "none" or "three" or "a dozen" that the anti-iBiquity crowd snarkily attests to in every post, but there's really no way to tell, other than noting that HD channels don't show up in the Arbs unless they're being relayed by translators in that now-well-known way to subvert the FCC regs.

I just picked up an Insignia portable to replace the Accurian tabletop I lots in a fire a couple of winters ago and am dismayed at what I hear here in Connecticut. Many streams down, others -- like WDRC-FM's HD2 -- just playing the same songs I remember them playing nearly two years ago. And DRC-FM HD2 is off the air as I type. I don't know if there are any listeners who care out there, but it sure seems as though station management, even at the companies that so enthusiastically promoted the concept a few years back, doesn't care anymore.

It's not like Last.fm really changed its playlist much since 2008 anyway. There was like one day in September of last year when they had a really interesting morning, and the whole signal went away for a few days.

I would like to see some more interesting programming on the frequency, but it is probably too expensive to indulge new music and you probably couldn't do a talk show because no one is listening. also I doubt the folks at krock-2 would relish more avante-garde indie music channel avaiable on on the same hd reciever.

The Christmas music is gone.
In its place on 102.7 HD2 is smooth jazz. I am sure that will make a few people happy, as SJ has not been available on the radio in NYC since WFAN took over 101.9 late last year and ended HD broadcasts on that frequency.
I had it on today for about 20 minutes, and heard only instrumentals. There were no songs with vocals during that time. But at least it sounded like real SJ, rather than being laden with crossover pop tunes.

About time, there were over 3 months of Christmas music on 102.7-HD2. I was kind of hoping that the Christmas music would continue all year

Listening on line. This is the way it should sound. Of course, all Christmas all the time would have been unique, but it's nice to have this format back, even if it is on HD.

I'm happy CBS decided to do something right with the 102.7 sub channel. I wish there were more formats on HD that weren't available on the main channels.

As one of the few owners of a portable HD receiver, I'm delighted. I look forward to hearing it over the air when I travel to New York in a couple of weeks.

FINALLY!!!!! ;D ;D Waiting for some smooth jazz, and we got the real deal, and not that AC hybrid.
Do you know how to stream it, because I cannot find it on Radio.com?

Check Tune-In. It's also on the Grace Internet Radio. It will be nice to hear the format done right, without Phil Collins and other non smooth jazz artists watering it down.

It's a bummer it's only on HD2 (and internet) this station and not FM. But lets be real, if this format is on FM it failed in no time. I guess Smooth AC with lots of vocal jazzy pop songs and a few instrumentals, like The Wave in LA is doing, they could try. But there is no place on FM or Fresh FM should flip to Smooth AC.

When I was using my TuneIn app this morning, I checked 102.7 HD2 and they're playing "Frosty the Snowman" by the Jackson 5, but it's not exactly smooth jazz, but they're still playing Christmas music under "Christmas FM" at 102.7. I hope that Christmas music should continue all year 'round and nothing has got to change.

Last I checked, the TuneIn phone app wasn't listing the CBS-owned HD2 streams. But they do allow direct entry of stream links, so I was able to enter links for "Roq of the 80s" and "Classic Live 105", among others.
