The over the air and internet stream where the same other the a 10 second delay on the streamRBW said:I've never quite understood how The Lake operates as they do. I always think it's odd that Jack (in the morning) never does a "real ID" of the station. I thought that was illegal (in the eyes of the FCC) I wondered too why they don't sell ads in Watertown?
Can anyone on this board receive the over-the-air signal? When it was Timeless... did it differ at all from the internet stream? Did they REALLY only have 1 ad break per hour? Do they operate from a facility which houses other Kingston stations? --- kRock perhaps?? I just don't understand how this US/Canadian ownership thing is handled.
Anyway I hope the internet stream returns soon... whatever they're doing now. :-\
Jack has 2 legal ID per hour minimum. Did they REALLY only have 1 ad break per hour? NO 3 or 4 an Hr. and most of the time 1 to 4 ads per break.

I live about 80 km down the 401, but can't get their signal from the house (on a regular basis). They get squeezed out by Espace Musique on one side and WNCQ on the other.
Heading a little west in the car is another story. Other than Jack Thompson (of 1380 CKLC fame), the music is canned. Canadian commercials, American news and music feed. I never felt 'at home' with the station. :-\
the stream seemed to always mach the same feed that was on the radio with a delay. When the stream returns will compere and see. I Will also ask next time I see someone from The LakeRBW said:Jack has 2 legal ID per hour minimum. Did they REALLY only have 1 ad break per hour? Very interesting history!
Back to the ID though. Anytime I heard Jack in the a.m.... all he'd say is Lake 102.7 Then when his show finished at 9, he just went from his last song, to another one at 9, but there was no "WLYK" spoken ID. And I never heard him actually say "WLYK Cape Vincent/Kingston" at ANYtime.
As for the breaks, in a typical Timeless hour, they'd break for spots at :20 past, but carry music at the :35 break, then during ABC's 60 second national spot at :50 past, you'd hear a 4 min song online to cover the ABC national, and the 3 min song that followed the spot. So I wondered if THAT was what was heard "on-air" or whether it was the same as the stream. ??? So, given that scenario.. there was ONE local break per hour!
So what is 102.7 doing today??? (online stream is still OFFline).
The List is current. Driving home around 7 they played Hitchin A Ride when I saw this post checked there website and it showed 7:02PM - Hitchin' A Ride - Vanity Fare. I turned on the radio and watched the website it's currentvinyltapecd said:I don't know if anyone noticed, but they still have the little drop down box at the top of their webpage which lists the last 100+ songs that they played. From looking at that list, it seems like nothing has changed yet, but there is always the possibility that the list may not be updated properly...

So roughly 40 miles east from Kingston (direction?) it fades. I could only listen online, but I never heard any U.S. news. The top o' the hour ABC news was always filled with a 3 min song. The format made ME feel at home since the Timeless feed was what I was used to listening to here in New York.
As far as the music goes, I'm a big fan of the standards and beautiful music formats, something which has been missing from the local airwaves since the original CFMO flipped back in the early '90's.Having said that, 1480 WADR (1550 WUTQ) does throw a weak daytime signal my way...
Because there not Canadian so Cancon dose not apply.gakski said:Enjoyed this station on a one day round-trip from Syracuse to Kingston last summer. Wondered how they circumvented the Canadian content rules.
