Easy there, y'all...this is just a flanker to siphon off numbers from Movin', Click and Star. The mission statement isn't compelling programming that's live and local 24/7. And it will probably make enough to pay the bills - something that its predecessor didn't. Sure, that upsets us radio geeks...but then again, we're not paying the bills!
As for stations in smaller markets "worrying" about the flip - ask Bill Wolfenbarger if he's shaking in his boots. Methinks not. It's a safe bet you're not going to hear ads for "Doug's Small Engine Repair" or "Quilter's Junction" on KYNW.
What intrigues me is that adding an FM to KJR ended up being such a spectacular flop ratings-wise. It made hardly a dent in KIRO's numbers.
