103.7 THE BAND

Greg Kihn and Co. in the Morning.
Bryan Schock in the Afternoons.
So how does one affect the other?

Maybe they'll do like Star 101.3. Don Bleu live in the Morning and everything V/T the rest of the day.
I am curious, Is Bryan Schock part of Clear Channel's Premium Choice, that I always hear about? I know that CC uses Premium Choice for both KGBY-92.5 and KHLX-93.1 in Sacramento.

You know, 103.7 The Band can be a very educational station. For example, were you aware that Supertramp's only hit was Goodbye Stranger? Uh huh. Something I did not know. I, being ignorant before but not now, had previously thought Supertramp had a string of very popular songs during the 70s and 80s. My mistake. I know better now, thanks to 103.7 The Band!

What have you learned from listening?
I agree. I always thought their song THE LOGICAL SONG was a hit? Guess I was wrong.

All this time I thought "Give A Little Bit" and "Dreamer" were hits, well I guess we learn something new everyday, because THE BAND has to be right.

I suppose we'll all hafta "Take The Long Way Home" to THE BAND's consultancy,
because "It's Raining Again"...
;D

The keyword here is had. A radio station trys to play songs that still are hits which means that the group of listeners they wish to attract.

KJFX 95.7 The Fox still thinks 7 of Supertramp's songs are still hits.

I've noted that Fresno is not San Francisco. I've noted the incongurency of their even being on the same planet.

It's really possible that those songs are still hits among the Fresno partisans of that kind of music. It's even more possible that a station in Fresno may not be able to afford reasearch right now.

So what your saying is that "Goodbye Stranger" is a hit in the Bay Area ,but the rest of Supertramp isn't. KJFX was one example I could add KHKK 104.1, and KDFO 98.5 to that list.

All three of the stations you listed are all in the Central Valley. KHKK in Modesto, KJFX in Fresno and KDFO in Bakersfield. You can also add KSEG-96.9 to that list you put up. I am guessing that KUFX-98.5 and KSAN-107.7 are more like The Band

Uninspired, predictable, tired, retread, no-pizzaz! Just a few terms to describe this waste of a perfectly good signal!! The Bone and KFOX have this stuff covered!

Clear Channel suits....Listen to KOOL/PHX or The Walrus/San Diego or KRTH/LA.

Give Bay Area listeners something fun and create some excitement on the dial!

How can the #4 Market in the country be without a fun Classic Hits station??

GEEZ!!

Bear in mind that CC has to sell of the Fox. It's already in a trust, along with KSJO and Channel. As I have predicted before, they'll move Greg up to the Band for mornings, and voice track the rest of the station.

Greg in the morning Big WOW! How is that any different than watching paint dry?

I'm not a Greg Kihn fan, but it might be clever counter-programming. Kihn's a right-winger (he pissed off the gays earlier this year) and since KFOG's morning show has a left-leaning reputation, Kihn might actually make some noise in that dept. Which CC would no doubt love.

Folks,

If this is really ther case........why not move Greg up to 103.7 now, change the calls to KFOX, and simucast on 98.5 until the sale. This was you "condition" the audience to the new dial position and "ready" them for the upcomming change?

Mike

Because until they have to unload the Fox, they have two radio stations that they can sell spots on. Right now, that's probably much more important than setting up the new one. Also bear in mind that they just hired the PD, and he will have to get in and get set up before they firm up any changes. Otherwise, why hire him if he won't be in on the decisions?

I noticed today that most of the imaging on KUFX no longer mentions "98.5". Might not mean anything, but then again.....

I always thought "103.7 K-FOX" has a better ring to it than "103.7 THE BAND". Just My Two Cents!

Amazing. Everyone makes Dave Logan sound like a radio GOD. Hey, did anyone notice he did nothing at KBSG in Seattle? Another BS talking loser know-nothing that looks good in a suit. Also, he is a ****** to work for-he had some serious trouble staffing his weekends. He didn't think anyone was good enough. Actually, he is not good enough. Those who teach, teach. Those who can't teach, teach gym. I am sure that even he, :D is not good enough to work at his station!

I call it the same old stuff that won't last!
I was up in SF doing some business, and I noticed the nice peeling billboard on Lombard, so I tuned away from 104.5 to 103.7 'The Band' and within 30 seconds I went back to KFOG because I was not in the mood for Steve Miller's 'Take The Money and Run'. Been There, Heard That... BTW - KFOG was playing Feist's 1,2,3,4 - A much better choice I must add =) KFOG is my Bay Area Station - 104 point 5 San Francisco, 97 dot 7 San Jose - Peace - JG

I agree on that one KFOG 104.5 has a much better playlist along with The Bone KSAN, The BLAND is boring, I live in Fresno and even KJFX 95.7 The Fox owned by Wilks not CC and The Blaze 105.1 KKBZ in Fresno is better. Even Classic Hits KHit 107.1 is more original.KHKK 104.1/KDJK 103.9 in Modesto has better Classic Rock than them.
