Yes, he's in-house and probably cheap. But then we'll just get another bad station that won't get any numbers or advertisers and won't last.
Better than Diva? Anything is better than Diva. But Citadel doesn't have the money or the intelligence to do it right and program a station to win. They also don't have a Rock or Alternative pedigree.
I would not be surprised to see W&J on 104.1 within 6 months though.
Just my humble opinion.
I get to listen to KRDJ from time to time and I'm giving props as it sounds more like what most people want to hear (I know down here on the bayou, more people would be into the harder rock such as Slipknot than say My Chemical Romance who would listen) than a station that is consulted to death like "The rock (classics with one new Mudvayne that slipped thru some how) of New Orleans redo.
I do also listen to alot of others and agree on the Fox out of Hattiesburg and tk 101 (and makes me question why the best programmed rockers for CC are in bi-annual diary areas for?)
I am also figuring on the job he did at WRNO as a basis for my comments but yeah he's the best for the money that Citadel has in this area .
104 the X is on a class A transmitter in Donaldsonville and was mainly aimed at the area around LSU. I know a few in North BR who are pissed at the 104.5 move to ESPN due to the bad reception and now 104.1 leaving means they are back to Sat. Radio in the Bedroom communities north of Baton Rouge. Thibodaux is a more fair assesment on the transmitter signal reliably but yeah it can be heard in Houma,Morgan City, and Lockport.
to GJRousse, I think they were told and fully expected to be back up and running, but my guess is this was also the same time of the KLRZ sale to citadel also, and most expected at the time for Rockin' country to go there.. my guess is Citadel had some deal they couldn't back out of, or something to make them flip a successful rock outlet to a also ran country station.
I put my comment on W&J as I'm not sure if Clear Channel holds their affliate contracts or if they do. If they do, I expect them to stay where they are, if CC holds the cards, they can pull the same stunts they did to WWL and WIST and yank affliations all over.
My question would be why create a new classic rocker when they already got rid of one of them unless they have something in store such as a move like this would be my question.
