The battle between 104.1 WABD and 107.3 Hit Music Now is on! But, it looks like 104.1 is WINNING, on their Facebook page at least. Thanks to the former WABB staff and a better, and yet stronger signal (cough, cough 107.3)..However, personally the music on 107.3 is much better and has a better flow to it. Cumulus CHR's especially from my own past hearing experiences, they love playing Coldplay's Paradise more than ever. Yes, it's one of the greatest songs on the album but however, it's getting old kinda fast. Sound familiar? Think of anyone else? WABB, perhaps?
Anyway, besides the point - what do you blogger's out there think of 104.1 WABD and 107.3 HMN? How long will the battle last for each of them? I'd bet you that (if) 107.3 HMN does not have solid numbers and remains the underdog of the ratings by August, if not Labor Day weekend- look for a change on 107.3 Hit Music Now and probably, Rob 42 - FM Talk will soon replace it. Again, I cannot think of another format hole that will do well. But the signal say's a lot of the mishaps on 107.3. Anyways, glad to see Reid BACK on the Radio on the Gulf Coast @ 107.3 (my favorite on WABB cause he is from my home state of North Carolina). However, putting him on the midday slot (10a-2p) is not good management thinking when he was on WABB sometime last year at the night slot. Instead, God knows why 107.3 HMN has Billy the Kid, a premium choice dj that is simulcasted across other Clear Channel CHR's on the night-time slot??!?!?. Personally, this was a lazy decision. I do hope this is not permanent. It's ganna take a huge turn-around if they want to be like a 93.3 FLZ! As for 104.1 WABD, DJ's everybody was dying for are good. They sound good on WABD. Wonder what the future holds for them, that is 104.1 and 107.3?
So, I'm interested in what y'all think!
Who do you chose: 104.1 WABD or 107.3 Hit Music Now.
