104.3 "790 the Ticket"

Well, it's here now.

I just heard one of the hosts on 104.3 (now a mono signal), and he was saying that 790 will join him shortly (in about 20 minutes, I think he said).

This is sure going to be awkward, waiting until the transmitter move, to synchronize.

I notice that they are still running HD, FWIW. That was the one thing I was hoping for----for them to drop it (so sez the DXer in me).

Yes, 790 The Ticket forwards to The Ticket Miami and their website has 790AM / 104.3FM posted all over.
Oh, I forgot that only the inner circle has access to the coloUr "RED"...we only get pale orange.

The Marlins game was on 790, not 104.3:

We may not see any rights based broadcasts...on 104.3 until the transmitter move takes place because of potential conflicts with existing agreements in Palm Beach County.

WEFL-760AM has the broadcast right to the Heat, Marlins and ESPN Radio in Palm Beach County. Looks like the Ticket will have local hosts working the FM side and maybe stay like that...who knows if 790 could just air ESPN programming only after the transmitter move.

I vote for ESPN Deportation Deportes..

oh wow woop tee doo a "sports fm" are people now just discovering that you can hear voices on a clear FM frequency ? its a total waste of station on the dial, soo many formats that could have been chosen to stand out in this highly redundant market like= 3 hip hop/rap/R&b stations 96.5-99.1 &105.1, 6 yes 6* adult contemporary stations 93.1-93.9-97.3-97.9-101.5 &102.7. 2 somewhat rock stations 103.5 &105.9 1 top 40 100.7 and the rest ALL spanish. folks its pretty obvious the 104.3 sports FM is a mistake

gotta give credit to lincoln financial/Miami for their effort with the likes of such dull stations like 101.5 102.7 and 790 sports am... you would think they would try something more ORIGINAL and EXCITING/FUN/MODERN with the purchace of 104.3.... ::eyeroll::

So, all that and you didnt' name a format you would have liked to have seen?

The Haitian population of South Florida is large enough to support a Creole language FM station.

We are all interested in learning what format you would place on 104.3, self-serving or not.

Sports isn't my cup of tea. However, why not let the listeners / market decide? If it's as big a bust as some are predicting, it won't last long. Can't see something staying on this big signal if it doesn't turn out some audience.

j, ill gladly post whats possibly missing around here, but id like to hear from other memebers first to see if anyone agrees with me

^ Um, dance? ;)

Actually, be ready for less and less music on FM radio. It's the wave of the future....spoken-word formats will increase, especially with people downloading their music now, and music licensing fees, etc.

Like another member hinted to me, you might see stations like WQAM scrambling like mad now....WAXY blazed the sports-on-FM trail in this market, and other sports-talk stations will take notice.....especially if/when Heat basketball starts on 104.3, whenever the tower moves.

I agree, however, since WQAM is owned by Beasley Broadcast Group, if Beasley wants to move sports to FM, using an existing Beasley FM signal, either WPOW or WKIS will need to be sacrificed and it is highly doubtful either FM will be "blown-up". The only other option is Beasley will need to secure a third full-market FM signal. If the latter is pursued, the question remains what signals are available? If an existing Beasley station is sacrificed, most likely it will be WKIS instead of WPOW. However, this will only make sense if it can be determined that 99.9 can generate more revenue as a sports station than it can now as the market's only FM country outlet.

QAM might be in deep you-know-what very soon.....unless they either do what Mr. Tillery says, OR, lobby to make HD mandatory on all radi-------forget I said that.

I can't see them dumping Power or Kiss.........however if all else fails....Look for Real Oldies 560!

Just a thought..................

As someone who worked in sales, I'd tell you the revenue between the two stations (KISS & QAM) is quite close
