This makes no sense! Why would Savage leave 50,000 watts to go to an FM that will play the previous days broadcast?

That's what I've said all along. I wonder if there's another market in the deal?

As I suspected Savage is 9p - Mid. And I'll bet this weekends will be flooded w/ Savage.

I was wrong. Savage 8p - 10p!?! What a joke! Who is programming this station?

When you flip the switch you should be ready to wow the audience w/ your programming. It's been no secret that 105 would filp to talk. People have been talking about it for months. And this is what we get?
How did you not have imaging, and programming ready to go? At noon it wasn't Savage it was a female host (I didn't get the name) but when I came back to the room, Savage was on. At 11p there was dead air, no legal ID, the news was cut off, followed by spots, more dead air, tones and finally programming. They did get one thing right, the dead air is static free.

A couple of things...

- I noticed there is ABC News and then local news and weather running at the top and bottom of the hour each hour. The weather is by AccuWeather, but who provides the local news? Is the news read by someone from out of town like WNDA had with Fusion (I believe it was)?

- Nothing local (except the news/weather addressed above). I still don't understand why they don't invest a little money and then reap the rewards by competing head-to-head with WHAS.

-I think the schedule was poorly planned. First, the majority of it is a same-day tape delay or a rebroadcast from the prior day. This makes it odd for breaking news/events and prevents locals from participating in the conversation (as hard as it would be to get through anyway). Glenn Beck at 3:00 might be beneficial on one hand to have a strong personality during the PM drive, but that puts his radio show in direct competition with his FOX News show from 5-6. Also, he competes with the live version of Sean Hannity on 1080, which also siphons off similar-minded listeners. I guess the most problematic thing is the time zone difference between the various programs and that prevents them all being broadcast live.

Savage was actually on from 6pm-10pm. I hope they will at least have sense to add the computer guru program, The Kim Kommando Show, to their weekend lineup. It is one of the top-rated weekend shows available and no one in Louisville has bothered to carry it.

This is the second time I've had to correct you! Savage was not on the air at 6pm. Are you sure you are listening to 105.1 in Louisville?

The lineup I got was posted on the radio-info main page yesterday. I have not listened to the station, nor do I really plan to as I have other hosts I prefer on satellite radio.

Projammer calls it right as do others who view this with a healthy dose of reality. The sat-cast line-up is like putting a patient on life support. No "live and local" = no chance to win, especially against an established flamethrower like WHAS (which, BTW, comes into Buffalo like a local at night.) You can have the best air talent and line-up, but if listeners can't hear your product, you're cooked. I liked the "milk truck" analogy. No signal = no win, especially against WHAS. This is a suicide mission, destined to fail. Back to music in a year.

I'm sure they never believed they would "win" over WHAS, which does so well in Buffalo (despite the lack of Louisville diaries there). The point is not to beat them, but to steal two share points from them and have a marketable product.

They sure didn't have that with music.

The lineup is already out:
5am - 9am = Mancow (LIVE)
9am - 12noon = Laura Ingram
Noon - 3pm = Michael Savage
3pm - 6pm = Glenn Beck
6pm - 9pm = Jerry Doyle
9pm - 10pm = Monica Crowley
10pm - 1am = Jim Bohannon (LIVE)
1am - 5am = Phil Hendrie (LIVE)

I like the 10pm to 5am block and I enjoy both hosts and the fact they are live. Not sure if any other shows air live I I don't listen to them anyway.

I can't see Joe Elliott anywhere on this station. However, if John Ziegler crashes and burns in LA radio....again, then you might see him back in Louisville.

Interesting they put Glen Beck against Terry Meiners considering their past. When Beck was doing mornings on RKA he made a few not so nice jabs at the expense of Liz Curtis. Meiners and Beck had an exchange of words as Terry took up for Liz. Meiners still has noting good to say about Beck.

If Mainline does sell WLRS, I wonder if EMF would buy? Air1 has a real poor signal through the southern portion of Louisville, and the K-Love translators don't do much better. EMF could use 105.1 as a simulcast of either WARA or WJLR-the latter option would compete heavily with WJIE.

WAY-FM really wouldn't gain much coverage area by selling WRVI and replacing it with WLRS.

WLRS could also be a good simulcast partner for WMPI (105.3) or WSLM (97.9).

Thanks for the warning about JZ. If he fails in LA you might see him with a megaphone on a nearby streetcorner with Sarah Palin.

So please inform us about the Meiners-Beck exchange. It must have been many moons ago cause Liz Curtis has been off the air since the early 90s. Was this about the time Milton Metz fought No-Neck Nelson in the Louisville Toughman contests?

I remember when Liz did mornings on QMF. She called herself the big blonde, I think.
I know at one time she worked with Howard Stern, and he thought she had -- shall we say-- Dirty mouth!!

Why is it taking this new station sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long to sound correctly? They have this sounding horrible. 20 different things running on top of each other. One segment is one show and then the next segment is a different show.

At 7pm I heard IRN USA news! During the week I heard ABC news.

How True!! :)
I heard Barry Farber this afternoon. ''105.1 FM TALK'' is billed as Younger,Smarter, and no static. I don't know about the smarter and no static, but Barry Farber is NOT younger! (I remember Barry being on WWKY in the early 90's)

How bout this for a slogan: "LRS-- you're sampler platter of FM Talk radio. Don't change programs... we'll do it for you!"

It was 1986, and while Terry and just about everybody else at WHAS may have been really ticked off at Glenn, I'm not aware of much of an exchange between them. But there were definitely a lot of hard feelings.

It was all because of Glenn making fun on the air of Liz for her weight, and it upset her to the point that it made her cry. RKA was a soft rock AC station then, much like VEZ is today, and was painting itself as the younger, cooler radio station.

The 12+ share for RKA that spring was 9.0, so something Beck did was working.

I'm sorry to complain so much about LRS but it's still stupid. They flipped to talk and even that isn;t streaming. I mean who cares about it anymore? Why isn't there more discussion on my board then?
