105.3 the lost

Not true. Not even close. Read the trades. Fox/Premiere/CC in LA, not within Market.

Now his replacement can start firing all Bruce's bad crony hires.

The Mavs won a thriller in OT last night and the Stars open camp on Sunday and what is Effinbomb talking about? Cowboys position coaches.

The main reason I stopped listening to sports stations when I lived in Dallas was because it was all Cowboys, all the time. Didn't seem to matter if anything else huge was happening in the sports world, they just had to talk about what third string offensive lineman had for lunch. ;D

In fairness, there's not much else going on right now besides the Cowboys coaching drama and the NFL.

Baseball is a month away from spring training, college football season is over, the Mavs suck, and the Stars (who'll suck worse) won't start playing until this weekend. There's college basketball, but this ain't Kentucky.

...and the Sidekicks are 9-1 and drawing 5K a game in Allen, while FC Dallas needs a Goalkeeper and a forward for their season that starts in March. Neither of which are being talked about on sports-radio. :)

You play in Allen.. you don't get talked about it (Sidekicks should be in Dallas where fans are)

Is the An Audience For Tier 2 (Minor League) Sports in Sports Radio?

Off topic: You speak the truth, since the Allen Americans, Frisco Roughriders, and F.C. Dallas also get no love from sports radio.

Are there just no fans of the "Tier 2" sports that call into these stations, or is there a perception of no audience? I understand ignoring the Fort Worth Cats and Grand Prairie Air-Hogs as they are below Class A in talent level (and attendance), as well as the NBADL team in Frisco, but would the occasional few minutes of "minor league talk" be better than "The Cowboys 7th String Cornerback's water-boy's assistant said something today. Let's diagram each sentence and find the hidden meanings in them for 30 minutes next"?

The Sidekicks are 9-1, and in two weeks will play the San Diego Sockers, who are sporting a North American (all team sports) record 46 game winning streak. Hopefully that match-up will be worth a mention or two on the stations.

Beg to differ.

Since Norm is doing play by play for them he mentions it at some point during the broadcast the next day. It may only be a 30 second blurb but he does mention it.

God I would be pissed if any of the three sports stations spent 30 seconds talking about Allen soccer or hockey. World Futbol might be worth 3 minutes, same with NHL/Stars until they really make news. The point is nobody's interested. Stars make a playoff run, then maybe they get a whole segment. The Stars make continuous playoff runs several years in a row, then we can talk. The Mavs and Rangers didn't get much attention on sports talk until they proved to be steadily relevant. Don't swing the hockey/soccer sword if you don't wanna be laughed at.

Yeah! Cause the Dallas cowboys won a Super Bowl 18 years ago. Made the playoffs 4 times in the last 9 years...a morning show spends 3 of 4 hours on the cowboys...including the offseason...we get it. We really do...perhaps just 2 hours during the offseason. I promise the ratings won't drop..mostly because they're as low as the can be for two of the stations...

ummm....have you checked ESPN Radio's ratings lately? They've been doing pretty damn good. Not Ticket great, but the top station in the nation is hardly a fair comparison for anyone. And it doesn't matter (yet) how much the Cowboys have won. They're still the story. And for that matter, the NFL in general destroys in pxp ratings, and seems to translate to talk ratings as well.

Last three months...

Espn: 2.6, 1.9, 1.6...unless getting better means declining numbers....

The Fan: 1.5, 1.6, 1.7...it's not much, but that's getting better by definition
