....talk radio...reports on the web say it'll be another talk station.....hey wilks we already have an fm kmj...good thinking guys

They might as well kept it Smooth Jazz they're going to go from a 1.1 in the ratings to a 0.3. Nobody can compete with KMJ .

Wilks... If you're reading this... here's your free tip of the day:

Move 104.1's ALTERNATIVE format to 105.5 (that niche format will still perform fine on the smaller signal)

Start a NEW top 40 station on 104.1 (has the signal for it)

Have fun!

I really dont think Wilks will move KFRR to 105.5 with that stick in Kerman, KFRR is a top 10 station in Visalia, KRZR is low on that list because of there valley floor stick near
Riverdale, there signal is bad in Tulare County. This Talk format with Alex Jones and so forth will not last 6 month. I can see them playing Christmas music again right after Thanksgiving and on December 26 they will go back to some kind of music format.

Well, it's started. Jerry Doyle. More blagh....blagh...blagh...

Ho-hum. What, they hoping that someone will drift off KMJ and find them.

Wind was blowing in the right direction this morning; I could actually get the station up north of Herndon (for a moment, that is...)

MANCOW will return to Fresno and Michael Savage will move from KMJ to 105.5 The Truth in 45 days.

I doubt that I have heard a more unlistenable show than Mancow, which lasted about 5-minutes in LA. And Michael Savage? I see him getting the key to the city.

man I am glad I don't live in Fresno, two FM stations being wasted as talk stations, man that sucks

Yes it left two holes, Modern/mainstream 80s and Smooth Jazz, but the smooth jazz was only getting a1.1 in the ratings now they will drop down lower, two many talk stations, now KYNO is really in trouble they haven't been higher that .4 in the ratings.

One thing they should made up for the lose of JACK, and KMPH 840 carries sone of the same programming, I have no problem getting KMPH in Clovis, of chorse I get KGO also so I guess that don't count.

I missed this one sfradio mention that he is glad not to live in Fresno because of
fm stations wasted on talk, What about KCBS that simulcasts on 106.9 KFRC what was the only CLASSIC HITS station.WE have KABX, KHIT, and KJWL that plays 60s and 70s music. Fresno has more Classic rock and Active rock. we may be missing some 80s but over all Fresno has more music than the Bay Area.

Well I didn't mention KOKO, and KMGV For60s and 70s . I know I'm getting off of the subject of THE TRUTH. with there stick in Kerman maybe they should go Mono, the signal would be better for talk radio. KMPH did that on 107.5.

I have a question Todd? The niche format of Alternative would perform fine on the smaller signal of 105.5? And 104.1 has the signal for Top 40? Does that mean that Top 40 would not perform well if it was on 105.5?

It's not a "waste" to have two talk FMs.FM is the future of talk radio as long as it's not mindless Hot Talk chatter like the old FREE FM stations.

Shows like Michael Savage are one of the few things people will put up with a bad signal for. Nobody will listen to music on a weak signal radio station anymore, there are too many alternatives.

I actually think The Truth will do just fine with the demo's in Fresno.

It's a conservative area and a conservative FM station can take full advantage. I'll bet they pull respectable numbers after a year or so!

While I don't think THE TRUTH will do better than either of the KMJ radio stations, I do think The Truth will do better than KYNO-1300. But what format will do well on 1300?

As far as KYNO I don't think a music format will work, maybe try Dialglobal's Nostalgia or Classic country formats or add some sports that was lost when 1550 went Spanish, The Oakland As and NASCAR broadcasts.

You may be right. Since KYNO's FM Sister Station (KJWL-99.3) used to use Dialglobal's Nostagia Format (when the format was part of WESTWOOD ONE). In Modesto, It is being used successfully on KVIN-920 THE VINE.
