While I don't think THE TRUTH will do better than either of the KMJ radio stations, I do think The Truth will do better than KYNO-1300. But what format will do well on 1300?

As far as KYNO I don't think a music format will work, maybe try Dialglobal's Nostalgia or Classic country formats or add some sports that was lost when 1550 went Spanish, The Oakland As and NASCAR broadcasts.
You may be right. Since KYNO's FM Sister Station (KJWL-99.3) used to use Dialglobal's Nostagia Format (when the format was part of WESTWOOD ONE). In Modesto, It is being used successfully on KVIN-920 THE VINE.

Especially since KJWL is playing more of the 70s and early 80s Soft Classic Hits, more than the older legends they used to play.

Wilks... If you're reading this... here's your free tip of the day:

Move 104.1's ALTERNATIVE format to 105.5 (that niche format will still perform fine on the smaller signal)

Start a NEW top 40 station on 104.1 (has the signal for it)

Have fun!

I have a question Todd? The niche format of Alternative would perform fine on the smaller signal of 105.5? And 104.1 has the signal for Top 40? Does that mean that Top 40 would not perform well if it was on 105.5?

No. I don't. Remember 106.3? The biggest competitors for Top 40 would be the 2 monsters that are already there... KBOS and KSEQ. 104.1 has the stronger signal.

I saw this topic put back up, just as I predicted THE TRUTH has 0.00 ratings in the latest book. WILKS you might as well go back to a music format on 105.5. KMJ owns Talk in Fresno and always will, at least KYNO gets a 0.4 in the ratings ,better than 0.00.

FACE THE TRUTH WILKS, this station is going nowhere, what a waist of a radio signal all the formats in the past did better, Classic country "The Wolf", "THAT 60s STATION, US country, Smooth jazz, and I bet this station had a bigger audience when you did Classic TV THEME SONGS for about 3 weeks. how about try a 80s format since 104.1 is 90s and beyond and the FOX is 70s dominated. A combination of Classic Alternative mixed with Mainstream rock from the mid 70s to the mid 90s, try it it will do better than a 0.0 ratings that you have now.

If this station (105.5) is going to be successful, it needs to do something about it's crappy signal, and broadcasting in stereo would help too.

They can't increase their power or move their transmitter closer to Fresno because of KMJ-FM 105.9 and KKBZ 105.1, FCC regulations prevents this they are stuck in Kerman, much like 94.3 KOKO, theres nothing they can do about it, but like I said before 105.5 had better ratings as a music format, so its not so much the signal , Its the programming, they come in fine in Fresno, they need to CHANGE FORMATS.

I didn't think it is close of a frequency on the dial. I can understand if it is 105.3 or 105.7. But 105.1 and 105.9 is .4 away.........Interesting.
Thanks for the info Kenrayc

The FCC requires at least A 40 mile separation for Class B stations less than .8 MHz apart. The only thing 105.5 can do is raise their tower higher but a will have to take a decrease in power. On top of all that their COL is San Joaquin and the signal must still reach the city of San Joaquin.
