glad to see we again finally have a radio station playing for the most part good music again!!! please stay with the harder stuff please !!! dont let it fade away like the other attempts did.

they could go a tad bit harder and not hurt my feelings :)
it's nice to have a rock station back in birmingham!

Speaking of staffing The Vulcan...if they did want to look down in market 200 or less heres a suggestion.

I lived in Monroe, LA for four years and listened to these guys all the time. Shadoe Haze and The Whipping Boy, bring em to Bham. They reminded me of back when the X was new with Hurricane and Rossi. The Vulcan has a lot of potential...now its time to bring in the rock talent.

They had their chance in Birmingham and failed (years ago on 99.5.)

Latka IS right about Lex & Terry having a previous Birmingham stint, but I think he's mistaken on the station. I remember their show being on the old WRLR 'Rock 97-3', back before that signal's power and tower upgrade. It was still a class A and didn't reach the suburban listening audience easily.

Cox used to syndicate the show before the duo inked a new deal with Clear Channel, IIRC.

1) Yep - Lex and terry were on Rock 97.3. They were pulled do to a VERY polarized audience in market research.

2) The Buzz in Atlanta was not "blown up" - it was promoted to the big leagues. The blew up thelegendary 96 Rock and moved The Buzz to 96.1, with an imaging upgrade to "Project 9-6-1" It's pretty damn good.

3) The key problem with B-ner and Ken this last go-round was that they were a Syracuse morning show being piped in to Bham with a few token local segments. You can't fool people. Don't expect them in BHam anytime. They both HATE CC.

GOD is Mad ! Gospel folks are protesting ! BRING BACK GOSPEL ! No , to Devil music ! ;D

Maybe Cox will fill in that hole, at 97.3.

P.S. I believe Gospel would do better at 97.3, than the current Country format is.

That's such a no-brainer at this point that I can't believe they didn't do it within 24 hours after 105.5 flipped. The ratings WAGG 610 already has + displaced WENN listeners = ratings gold. Maybe they're figuring that they're still the only game in town and thus there's no need to simulcast on FM.

I'm sure WAGG will inherit most of those displaced WENN listeners and that definitely will help since "Hallelujah" had eroded quite a bit of WAGG's audience. It does seem like Cox would have jumped on the opportunity to change 97.3 to black gospel after WENN abandoned the format. There wouldn't be any competition (or any to speak of) since WLPH (now WRLM) has gone to spanish programming. That only leaves WAYE and WAGG programming black gospel, and WAYE isn't that much of a threat.

Ratings gold and billing gold are two different concepts. All the ratings in the world mean nothing if a station can't sell the format to advertisers.

If 97.3 flips to black gospel what becomes of 610?

I have to believe that Cox doesn't take an FM gospel. I used to work in that building and the fact that WENN didn't make money was often talked about.

One more case where big ownership makes a fallacy of radio and gives no regard to people, which they seem to know only as their social security numbers.

Pretty much. Radio in Birmingham is as brain dead and emotionless as it gets. Nobody in their right mind would listen any station in this market due to the overall sucking sound that would represent your IQ dropping.
